good site

Scaddows Farm
We spent 4 nights at Scaddows Faem whilst going to Donnington Race Course. We found the site with ease and the site was good and in two parts. The grass could have done with a cut but on the whole was good.. The toilet waste was good with a water supply and the water tap was also excellent. Overall I would definitely return to this site and for only £5.00 per night its a no brainer. t

Good basic CL

Scaddows Farm
The main arrival gate is a bit awkward to use especially for a lady but that said this is a very quiet and peaceful site. We stayed four nights and loved it. There’s a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away with services to Derby and Swadlincote which we found useful.

Great site to get away from it all. Three grassy field areas surrounded by fields of sheep. No facilities except water so you need to be self sufficient. Walks across fields to Calke Abbey. Slight amount of traffic noise but the site is well tucked away from the main road and felt very secure. Great site, plenty of room.

Scaddows Farm
Agree with all other reviews. Big thank you to Ann who helped us out of a self inflicted situation on arrival.!!!! Very much appreciated. Lots of walks,Moira furnace + canal walk great. Lots of small towns of Interest. No farmhouse, you are on your own with the sheep, so if you want rural + quiet this is the place. We had 10 days. Grass kept clipped,3 large areas to pitch. Bin area etc clean +tidy.Gated thru long private drive. Very good value. Shadows Farm.. up the rd worth mentioning, shop, pick yr own, pretty cafe with views.

A Treasure.

Scaddows Farm
When you find a site like this I sometimes think, should I share it with anybody else. If it became too popular I might not be able to get back in! But I don't caravan every day of the year so I do need to share this site. It has no mains hook up but this is not a hardship. It does mean that pitching is flexible as your not restricted to go within 25m of a hook up post. The site is very gently sloping and is just surrounded by fields, at the time of our visit full of young lambs and their mothers. No roads can be seen and you will be hard pushed to hear any traffic noise but the access road to the site is not narrow in any way, we came in from the south from Ashby de la Zouch. We were here over a bank holiday weekend and stayed for 3 nights. During two of the days we walked from the caravan and did portions of the National Forest Way, the whole area is covered with a good number of public footpaths. On our rest day we visited Calke Abbey (an NT property) very close by and then went to Staunton Harold to the Ferris Centre (crafts) and a garden center. One evening we went out to Melbourne to the fish and chip shop in the center of the town, these were delicious.
