Why stay here ...

Owners Andy, Nicky Cleave and our two sons Tom and William look forward to welcoming you to our 5CL site which is located just 6 miles from Combe Martin, near to Blackmoor Gate.

We have a level site with 5 hard standings pitches all with grey water waste, water connection and electric hookup.

The CL has lovely views overlooking farmland with Whistlandpound reservoir in the distance.

Our up to date toilet block is heated all year round, has ample toilets and showers with free hot water, use of a washing machine and tumble drier, fridge freezer and an information desk with games to borrow and fresh, free range farm eggs, you are also welcome to collect your own eggs from the nest boxes.

During high season there is a small shop with bacon, eggs, sausages etc.

We are a working farm and will happily show you around and introduce you to the animals, the pigs particularly enjoy having visitors. During lambing time, around the Easter break each year, you will be welcome in the lambing shed where there are often tame lambs to feed.

Located for exploring the North Devon coast, the famous villages of Lynton and Lynmouth connected by the cliff railway, and the Exmoor National Park. A five minute drive will take you to the National Trust property of Arlington Court which houses the National Trust Carriage Museum. Other local attractions include the Lynton and Barnstaple Steam Railway, Exmoor Zoo at Bratton Fleming and the spectacular North Devon beaches (nearest 6 miles). Nearby are the two historic market towns of Barnstaple and South Molton with their traditional Pannier Markets. Seaside towns Ilfracombe, Combe Martin and Woolacombe are all a short drive away.

Nearby bus stop at Blackmore gate, if asked the buses will usually stop outside our gateway for drop off and collection.

Nearby Bed and Breakfast and glamping options for other friends or family members.

Great Views - needs a bit of TLC

Great views from the site, 5 hardstanding pitches, each with their own water, waste and EHU. Be aware though that the water points are out of sync with the pitches, so you may find your tap in used by the neighbour when you arrive! Lots of toilets and showers available, which could be fantastic, but are not maintained/cleaned. Also on site eggs and meat and uses of a washer and dryer for a cost. Good location. Overall if some more time was put into the site this could be a brilliant site to visit again.

More for your money!

Pitches are great, hard standing with your own water and waste water pipe! Access to spacious, clean and warm showers! Washing machine and tumble dryer available for a donation! It’s a working farm so pigs, chickens etc. Available to see - you can even collect your own eggs. It is close to a road but we still found it quiet at night. It’s centrally based for all places of interest in the area - great for cycling from!

peaceful site

As per previous reviews the toilets and shower block are outstanding but access can be difficult for those with mobility problems as there are a number of steps to negotiate. The hardstanding is very level, we did not need levelling blocks at all and each pitch has its own electric and water tap. We chose this site as it was close to bus and public house as we intended to park up and walk or bus everywhere but in reality this was not feasible. Yes the bus and pub are close by but what isn't stated is that it entails a walk along a very busy road with no footpath. We set out for the pub the first day but felt so unsafe we had to return to the campsite and use the mtorhome to get everywhere which was not the break we had planned. So anyone with similar plans as ours beware there is a very dangerous road to negotiate.

A first class CL

We have visited this site a few times and always get a warm welcome. The facilities are all anyone could ask for ...water, electric and waste on your hardstanding pitch. The showers are spacious and warm with a never ending supply of hot water. There are 2 seperate toilets which along with the showers are clean and well kept. Our grandson loves to visit . Nicky has endless patience allowing the children to help and showing them around this working farm. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and they are always willing to try and give any help required .

Ten night stay in November

We telephoned in September and booked to stay for 10 nights on this small CL in rural North Devon. The location was perfect for exploring North Devon including walks at Watersmeet, Heddons Valley, Dunster, Ilfracombe, Westlandpound Reservoir, Combe Martin and Arlington Court which were all close by and highlights of our trip. The hardstanding pitches are slightly overgrown, and some searching was needed to locate the drainage point. The CL is in need of some TLC, the ‘older’ facilities remain outside the door to the ‘newer’ toilets, showers and laundry facilities which have been constructed inside a partitioned section of the large barn. The toilets (2no), showers (2no) and laundry facilities were not clean or provided with any toilet rolls on our arrival, and were not cleaned or provided with toilet rolls throughout our stay! We did see the owner (Nicky) on arrival and when we paid, but not ‘actively’ engaged with arrival/departure or information. This CL may have a more focused owner/manager during the peak summer season, but is not being given the attention it deserves and requires during the ‘off-season’. A basic CL in a rural location
