Ilfracombe Certificated Locations

Ilfracombe is a wonderful seaside village with its own harbour dating back to the 12th century surrounded by rugged and spectacular cliffs.

The coastal scenery includes the secluded Hele Bay and the delightful Watermouth Beach, while the seafront contains all the usual attractions of a bandstand, plus lots of places to eat and drink. Ilfracombe Aquarium offers a great chance for kids to get close up to a wide range of sea creatures.

Among the more unique features are the Tunnels beaches, featuring tunnels cut by Welsh miners in the 1820s to access beaches that cannot be reached any other way.

The area has some fine old buildings too, such as St Nicholas Chapel, dating back to 1361 and containing Britain's oldest working lighthouse.
