Why stay here ...

A level site, beautiful views and nature all around you! The path to the wash-room is kept mown, and runs between a swathe of grass, dotted with buttercups and other wildflowers. You can choose your own pitch, depending on which view you prefer. Each electric post has a water tap as well as the socket so that you don't have to trundle around the field with a water container.

The washroom contains two showers, two loos, two basins and a sink. At the moment the water and the showers are heated electrically.

Access is straightforward, only a mile off the main road (A3121) along what appears to be a narrow road, but you soon come to a crossroads, and thereafter the road is wider with wide verges for passing if necessary. Because it runs along an ancient ridgeway - along the top of a hill, it is almost flat, so an easy drive. Please do not be tempted to use a Satnav, it is likely to take you right through the village (narrow!) and up a very steep hill - not good for your clutch!

We look forward to welcoming you to this spacious site on our working farm in this tranquil part of South Devon. Please note dogs must be kept under control and on leads.

One of the best

Hillhead Farm
This is a real tranquil site . lots of space between pitches and site with lovely views. Directions are spot on and with the additional hill head sign on the turning so easy to find. Think u need to charge more and forget about the petty 20 pence charge for showers. It’s so good with water and electric on every pitch . Would highly recommend.

Lovely tranquil site

Hillhead Farm
Stayed 2 nights April 2023 and used as a base for a ‘Keeper For A Day’ experience at Dartmoor Zoo (about 25 mins away if opting for the ‘wider’ roads). Lovely site, highly recommend for its tranquil and relaxed feel. Toilet and shower facilities are clean and modern and are a short stroll down the field to the farmhouse to access - great to have water and electric on pitch. Jane was easy to communicate with prior to and during our stay if needed. We ate at The Ship in Ugborough - highly recommend - it’s about 10 mins stroll down the hill to the village … slightly longer on the way back if you’ve had a big lunch! Loved out stay at Hillhead and hope to return in the future - thanks to Jane and family for providing a lovely and environmentally conscious site. Sharon

Oh what a terrific location and facilities

Hillhead Farm
Brilliant site - own water and electric on each pitch - a real plus as I prefer showering in our own van, although there were two showers and two loos on the site. Jane was mowing the grass round the pitch area when we arrived so we had a wave, although we didn't catch up with her during our stay - a very busy farmer. Visited two of the local pubs - The Ship at Ugborough - within walking distance if you're fit (we're lazy) and the California. The latter was very busy due to its proximity to the CCC site at California Cross, with speedy service and great food but very cramped tables - mind you, we had a great conversation with our next door table hearing all about the other site! The Ship is more fine-dining with some very creative plates and the most outstanding and welcoming service. Because the site is perfectly situated for so many local attractions (and fortunately not a lot of road noise from the A38), we will go again. Highly recommend the Dartmoor Zoo (about 15 minutes - hubby had an amazing behind the scenes photography course with Jamie), Buckfast Abbey (20 minutes), the Otter and Butterfly sanctuary (20 minutes), Tavistock Pannier market (35 minutes), The Garden House, Yelverton (35 minutes) and Plymouth (30 minutes). We crammed a lot into our four day stay! Only one slight difficulty - as Jane advises in her directions, don't use SatNav - even if you've got the Avtex Garmin on the caravan setting. However, because the signage she referred to was rather overgrown, we missed the third right turning and ended up having to drive through Ugborough - very tight indeed - don't do it in anything bigger than a two-berther! Fortunately we didn't meet anything coming the other way. Thank you Jane for a great stay. We'll try your honey and fresh eggs next time.

A superb site

Hillhead Farm
A superb CL, right in the heart of South Devon and all this county has to offer. The site itself for the cost per night has a lot of facilities. Direct water connection on every pitch, pitches are flat, great washing up area, eggs honey etc can be purchased from the farm itself. The only issue I would say is the approach to the site. Yes the directions are great from the owner but not if your an 8foot wide Buccaneer. The ideal approach to the site is through Biddiford, yes it’s steep but the approach is a lot wider

Great Site

Hillhead Farm
We came down and stayed on Hillhead farm for a family event.  This is a large quiet site with really good facilities.  The owners were welcoming and left us to our own devices while on site. The showers and toilets are very well presented and kept.  We will return here again when down that way.
