Beautiful but not what it seems :(

Escot House
Stayed for a weekend. The good - Very warm welcome by owners and can’t complain at the price. Arrived late in evening, directed to a field several fields away from many house, high up, fabulous views, tons of space and a water tap. The not so good - Walked to find fishing lake (paid to fish) quite a long walk from van. Lake very unloved and has a rope across it making it hard to fish. The decent lake on site is syndicate only so not open to public. The bad - Biggest disappointment was in daylight we realise that the camping field is adjacent (other side of the hedge) to an outdoor experience Centre and the access gate to this from the car park is next to camping field. Woken in the morning by large groups of blokes full of high spirits and bad language (football golf), New groups on the hour, also clay pigeon shooting all day and the real let down is that all roads around this beautiful tranquil estate are used by the Segway riders and quad bike groups, 5 or 6 at a time ripping up and down the roadways both sides of the camping field at some speed, skidding round at bottom, back up past the vans again, then down the road at the back of the vans, all day long (does stop in evening) not great if you have kids or dogs. Dust clouds, a LOT of noise, no privacy, no relaxing outside enjoying the surroundings and dangerous for walkers, really not good. They also race all the way round the fishing lake On the actual path round the lake! (no point trying to fish) and didn’t even see us and ran over our fishing equipment (And we had a child with us...frightening) and the quad leader then had a row with us telling us we shouldn’t be there (we paid £10 a day to fish!!) Seems to be some issue between house and campsite owners and the outdoor sports people who must rent the other part. Owner apologised but it is what it is. Of all the land on this estate why put the camping field there??? All in all not what we expected from the description and disappointing but cheap enough.

Escot house should not be a CL

Escot House
On arriving at Escot house which we had booked the Receptionists didn't know where the site properly was, there was no sign. We eventually realized we were on a field with a large school party in tents next to a clay pigeon shooting activity.Still thinking this was the wrong place we rang the house direct and Mich Kennaway came and informed us that was the site, we decided to have a refund and went to the lovely CL Gosford Park in Ottery st Mary , where we had a great welcome. Escot house should inform everyone booking that it is not a normal 5 space CL site but a camping field

A beautiful overnight stop

Escot House
Glad we hadn't read the previous review before choosing to overnight here. Having been to Beautiful Days Festival three times, and stayed on the official festival site, I can confirm that the CL field we stayed on is not within that area. It is beautifully situated, on top of a hill, behind Escot House and the entrance to the park and all its facilities. We were able to position our van to take full advantage of the lovely views and spent a quiet and peaceful night. Yes, there is only a single tap but this is all that is advertised and all necessary for the maximum 5 vans (we were the sole visitors when we stayed). I am sorry that the previous reviewer had a bad experience but hopefully Escot have taken notice of their review. I would certainly recommend this CL for a great value overnight stop in scenic and peaceful surroundings.

Do not use this when the festival is on!

Escot House
This spoilt our whole holiday, we were attending the beautiful days festival and were told that the caravan site was open so when we arrived we found the site to be a field with no waste disposal, one tap, cow pats everywhere, flooded and they wanted £50 to stay here! We got stuck, but managed to get towed out!!! AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
