Why stay here ...

Note: Due to current circumstance Mouse Cottage is currently unable to offer Toilet/Shower Facilities until Government Guidlines are relaxed. Please speak to CL owner for an updates.

Mouse Cottage is set in the beautiful Dorset countryside hamlet of Nottington. The CL site has the River Wey running along its border with surrounding fields with public right of way to some beautiful countryside walks.

So whether you like to enjoy the quiet tranquillity of the CL site or fancy exploring the abundance of tourist attractions Dorset has to offer and beautiful beaches, our CL is in a good location to be based to access and enjoy Weymouth and the surrounding Jurassic coast along with Dorchester town which is a short journey by car or public transport.

A bus service runs frequently between Dorchester and Weymouth which is less than a half mile walk-away up Nottington Lane.

If you need local shops such as the Post Office, food stores, GP Practice or Veterinary service these are close to hand without having to venture into town. There are some lovely places to eat out or grab a takeaway and information can be obtained on site.

Mouse Cottage is well maintained and provides Wi-Fi, razor charging socket, shower and washing facilities with a washing machine, dryer, toaster, kettle and microwave in our heated utility block. Please check with the owner for any price amendments during the winter months.

We recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment!

Emma and Craig look forward to welcoming you to their CL.

Wonderful Place to Stay

We have just had a very enjoyable long weekend at Mouse Cottage. Met on arrival by Emma (and Baby!), we had a quick tour of the site and opted for a hardstanding pitch adjacent to the stable. The electric hook-up for this pitch is about 25m away but luckily we have a long enough cable - although Emma offered us the loan of one if we didn't so no need to worry if you only have a short cable. The CL is located in a VERY quiet little village with hardly any traffic so was absolutely fantastic for just sitting and chilling out in the beautiful countryside. The pitch we had meant that once set up MH door and outside table were south facing so we had the sun all day - when it was out it did pour with rain one afternoon of our stay! Due to COVID not all the facilities are open yet - however being self contained it didn't matter and the water, waste and rubbish points are closely located to all pitches - and no bad smells either. Emma & Craig have an adjacent field with some friendly horses and rare breed sheep - who are quite mad! We chose to walk down into Weymouth which is mainly downhill and just under 4 miles away - luckily the weather was good! We would definitely consider returning to Mouse Cottage - but next time we'll wait until Weymouth is fully open as it was difficult to get into pubs and restaurants due to only having outside tables available.

A hidden corner of Dorset

We have just had a very enjoyable week at Mouse Cottage. Well located to explore the local coast, and view the cruise ships moored out in Weymouth Bay during COVID-19. Magnicent, but somewhat sad at the same time. And handy also to explore Very pretty scenery and villages north of Dorchester. When arriving, We somehow missed the road that took us to the Morrison’s roundabout. Never fear, take the road towards Upwey station, the bridge is huge to get under, then turn left onto the old Dorchester road, and right into Nottington lane. Due to Covid, Emma met us on arrival and then we were much left to ourselves. Sadly no information on local facilities, or her cakes to sample! WiFi was excellent. Tv good too. One side of site, near the stream loses the sun by 2ish, the other side near the permissive path is far sunnier. Your choice! Lovely to watch the horses in adjoining field, and a good easy circular walk from the footpath through the site, even for reluctant walkers (my husband!). Would have been nice to see pitches mowed after someone left (who had obviously been there a long time) but maybe no one else was due in?

A beautiful peaceful site with easy access

We have just spent a lovely week at Mouse Cottage which is a well maintained peaceful site. The owners, Emma and Craig, are very welcoming. There is a choice of two hardstanding pitches or grass. We chose to pitch on the grass and where not disappointed. The facilities are currently closed due to the Covid situation. If you love horses then you will be in heaven as you are situated in the middle of a stables with some beautiful horses and two lovely Shetland ponies, and don't forget the sheep. The site is easily accessibile from the main road and is 5 minutes to Sainsburys, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl. Weymouth seafront is around a 10 minute drive, and other sights in Dorset are easily accessibile. We look forward to visiting again.

Really lovely CL

This CL is exceptional and we loved our stay here. It’s clean, tidy, scenic and peaceful. The toilets, showers and laundry facilities are excellent and above and beyond what you would expect from a CL. There is also free WiFi. I would have scored the site five overall, except I think they have their pricing policy wrong for a motorhome with a car. A caravan + car is no different to a motorhome + car. They take up the same amount of room and two people use the same amount of water, EHU etc. A car with a motorhome is not an extra car but we were charged for an extra car. When we queried it we were told it was different for motorhomes. It really isn’t.

A gem of a CL

Over 40 years of caravaning this must be one of the best CL’s we have visited. Starting with a very friendly welcome, the site is well laid out, and well maintained, with ample room for five vans. Having lived in Dorchester many years ago, we know the area well but there is ample information in the clean amenities block for those who are new to the county. Free Wi Fi is now becoming an important attraction, and the signal here is excellent. TV reception is average but all the main channels are available. Would not hesitate to recommend this CL to anyone.
