Why stay here ...

Popham Airfield CL is in the heart of the North Hampshire countryside close to the A303 and M3 Junction 7 and the A34, easily accessible from all directions. Just 40 minutes to Southampton or Portsmouth ferries, 15 minutes to Winchester and 1 hour to London. Micheldever station is just one mile away from the site with trains to London and the South coast.

The pitches are backing onto woodland to the north of the airfield which is active 364 days of the year from 08:30 until 20:00. These are grass pitches with slight inclines and with plenty of space to roam around the airfield.

Popham has two grass runways of 900 metres should you friends want to fly in and we are home to more than 100 aircraft and two flying schools with trial flights available.

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and there are a few safety rules offered to guests which can be downloaded from our website just to keep you safe. This document also has site security information you will need if you arrive after 6pm. Popham pilots are a friendly bunch and will be happy to show you round their aircraft if you ask first.

Airfields are not the quietest places in the world but there is no night flying and the CL location is in the quietest part of the estate and tucked away from the A303 traffic. A number of events take place at Popham which means we are often fully to capacity, check our website for events before booking.

Nearby ... Bombay Sapphire Gin factory is 5 miles away and there is a bus service from Micheldever for the tour, Blackwood Forest centre is 2 miles away with woodland walks, Highclear Castle (Downton) is 12 miles to the north. The Roman town ruins and amphitheatre at Silchester is 18 miles to the north to explore. The south downs and the south coast are also easy to access from Popham.

We hope you enjoy a memorable stay at Popham.

Best ever CL

A warm welcome awaits when arriving at this site. It's a very laid back and easy going site with much action during the day from light aircraft movements and some expert model aircraft users in their own field located nearby, (registered users only). Having said this, it is not noisy by any means and can keep you interested in the activities all day. Aviation geeks will love this CL. Dog walkers are really made up here with acres of open land and a wooded area adjacent. The airfield cafe offers great food and drinks and CL users are offered a 10% discount. Popham is very well situated with the M3 and A303 nearby, however no noise is heard from the roads. The A303 has an M&S and Starbucks service area westbound while the eastbound service area has a Greggs and Starbucks. Both of these are just a 5 minute car drive. Can't recommend this site enough, we shall be returning very soon.

Brilliant Bolt hole for us!

We love this site as its so close to us, and its a quick journey up the 303. Lovely grounds, loads to watch, aircraft landing and taking off, model aircraft as well. Great cafe with delicious breakfast or just a hot drink and good outdoor seating space. Its a route centre for Andover, London Basingstoke, Winchester, Newbury with easy access BUT the noise is minimal due to layout of site. Mike is easy to deal with and really hope this doesn't change.

A lovely CL

I really wish I could keep this CL to myself. It's fantastic, from the welcome, to the constant changing views, a great café and lovely walks. Close to home for us, but definitely a favourite.

Excellant Site

We have just returned from a lovely two nights at Popham. Friendly owners and very helpful. Even though this site is alongside the A303 the traffic noise is minimum due to the positioning of the camping area. Plenty of entertainment watching the small planes and Gyrocopters land and take off. Next to the camping is an area used by model aircraft enthusiasts, they had some excellent models and were ace at flying them. Lovely cafe on site with very reasonable prices, we sat in the sun with our morning coffee next to the airstrip. Good walks for the dogs in adjacent woods and around the fields. This site is excellent value for money and extremely well kept.

Excellent CL

We really enjoyed our 1 night here, we were booked in for 2 but the weather was due to be terrible. Huge grassy space, toilets were accessible at any time, lovely cafe on the Airfield. And of course planes! We were hoping to grab a short flight and we will be back to do that at some point. Mike is a lovely host / Airfield Manager, even gave us a tour of the hangars. Highly recommended.
