Why stay here ...

Andrew and Alison welcome you to Hall Farm CL. We run an arable farm growing wheat, barley, beans, maize and Christmas Trees.

Our CL site is a securely fenced grass field, containing five hard standings, each with a 10 amp electric supply. We welcome families and dogs, as there is plenty of space on the site for everyone. There are plenty of local walks of varying length, accessible from the site including footpaths alongside the River Trent.

We are situated 10 miles from the A1and 10 miles west of Lincoln, with easy access to the historic market towns of Newark, Retford and Gainsborough. Local attractions and activities include:

  • University City of Lincoln with its wonderful Cathedral, famous for the mischievous Lincoln Imp, (see if you can find it inside).
  • Lincoln’s Norman Castle which now has a dedicated area to house one of the three original copies of the Magna Carta.
  • The new Bomber Command Centre, is just on the edge of the city
  • Newark Castle and Civil War Centre
  • Lincolnshire Showground
  • Newark Showground
  • Gainsborough Old Hall
  • Doddington Hall and Farm Shop
  • Pay and Play golf course within 2 miles
  • Close to Sustrans Bike trail - Lincoln to Clumber Park
  • Sundown Adventure Land
  • Go Ape in Sherwood Pines
  • The Major Oak in Sherwood Forest

Lincolnshire has lots of aviation heritage including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre. The Red Arrows display team can often be seen practicing over Scampton from the comfort of a deck chair on site.

In the next door village (1.3miles) there is a pub that serves food, and also an Indian restaurant which also provides a take-away and delivery service. There are several other local pubs serving excellent food. We are lucky to have the outstanding Courtyard Tearoom on the farm serving delicious home cooked food and fabulous cakes. There is a well-stocked village shop and post office within walking distance, which also sells Calor gas.

The field surrounding the site is sown to a pollen and nectar flower mix to enhance the environment. In summer it is a picture of flowers and butterflies. The surrounding fields are full of wildlife, and it is not uncommon to see deer, rabbits, hares and the occasional badger. The farm hosts a variety of birds including barn owls, kestrels, peewits, skylarks and field fares.

There is plenty to keep you occupied for a stay at Hall Farm CL whatever your interests, or you can just come and relax and unwind at our rural site.

'A PLACE IN THE COUNTRY'

Hall Farm
In a small village with a post office, reasonably flat sunny field behind wooden gates with individual EHU updated to 16 amps, to each pitch, 1 water tap on site. Grass was ready for cutting but was ok Close to a main road but quiet during the night. Main shops are in Lincoln, or Newark Torksey Lock is a nice walk by the canal, Whisby Nature Reserve with tea room is worth a visit, plenty of walks, £2 car park charge NT properties not too far away A site worth using if you want to be in that area.at £15 pn

Perfect for short break

Hall Farm
We recently had 3 night stay on this CL in our newly purchased motorhome (previous caravan owners). Access was easy, we were the only ones on site so had a choice of pitch. Pitches slightly sloping so remember levelling ramps. Alison came to see us in the evening, made us feel very welcome and gave some useful advice on walks from the site. We packed quite a lot in to our short stay, including 2 good walks, one around the farm lanes and one by the river to Dunham. A visit to the tearoom is a must, can highly recommend the cakes. Newton on Trent is a peaceful little village with a small shop/post office. We had a takeaway delivered from the Indian restaurant in Dunham, prompt and delicious. Expect some road noise as you are close to the main road but this didn't disturb us at all and we will certainly return.

Good Little Site

Hall Farm
We had a lovely few days here, Alison replied promptly to emails and was really helpful when we had to change our booking due to our car breakdown. Alison also emails a very useful information sheet when booking. The site is easy to find, no narrow lanes to negotiate, wide entrance to large grass field with 5 well spaced hardstanding pitches. The pitches do slope so remember a few blocks/ramps. There is one water tap and a clean easy to use cdp. The quiet lane just outside the gate made a good dog walk. There are also plenty of other walks in the area. There is some road noise from the A57 but it was quiet at night. The site location is handy for Lincoln, Gainsborough or Newark and Doddington Hall. The village, just over the main road has a small, shop and PO. There is also a tea room at the farm, which unfortunately we didn't get time to visit, but it does give us an excuse to return.🙂

Small but perfectly formed

Hall Farm
We booked for one night as a convenient stop off en route to Yorkshire with the intention of doing the same on our return home as is convenient for the A1. However we decided to book an extra couple of days as it is ideally situated for visits to Lincoln and Newark on Trent. Access is straight forward all pitches are hardstanding so great for motorhomes 2 of the 3 slope a little the others a pretty level. Water, waste and chem disposal point are good all have EHU. There is a tearoom in the farm opposite though we did not try it. It is near a busy main road but we were amazed at the lack of noise as the site is shielded by a bank and hedgerow. Alison is helpfull and gave us a warm welcome. It's not the biggest of CLs but fine for a few days if exploring the area or want a convenient stop over when heading north or south on the A1. Overall a very well kept site to which we shall be sure to return.
