Why stay here ...

Dakota Park caravan site is on the B1192 just outside Coningsby. We are a small 5 van Certificated Location with friendly and helpful staff. Self catering cottage also available adjacent.

We have a pretty site with some stunning sunsets and sunrises.

Just up the road is RAF Coningsby and "The Battle of Britain memorial flight" so we get plenty of action with all types of planes from the old Chipmunks, spitfires, the Dakota and the Lancaster to the up-to-date Typhoons etc. If it's a peaceful quiet site you want then this is not the place, the planes fly regularly during the week and very often a display is put on with the pilots training for the big shows. It can get very exciting especially when they are flying right over your head! We have even built a 10 foot high bank so you can get a better view of the planes.

There are a vast amount of country pubs with home cooked food, cafes, Chinese, Italian and Indian restaurants. We are also very close to Woodhall Spa, Horncastle, Boston and Lincoln for some exciting shopping and site seeing.

We will welcome your dogs as long as they are well behaved and they don't disturb other members. There are some stunning walks with fantastic scenery.

If you love plane spotting then this is the place to come and stay. The planes fly regularly during the week but finish Friday lunch time for the weekends. You get to see all the Typhoons training and the old Battle of Britain planes like the Spitfire, Hurricane, The Dakota and The Lancaster plus lots of visiting aircraft, so this is an exciting place to come but not if its peace and quiet that your looking for, the planes are noisy and the road can be busy at times but the planes and excitement surely make up for it.

Runway cottage has a lovely bright and sunny open plan kitchen/ lounge with all mod cons, large flat screen t.v, hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer etc.

A large modern shower room with large shower and constant hot water, toilet, wash hand Basin and fluffy soft towels.

A stunning double bedroom with a comfy double bed and fluffy warm quilt, you can even lay in bed and watch the planes go out to play. There is an extra double day bed if needed for the little ones to stay in the same room as you.

Outdoor seating area with table and chairs, fire pit / BBQ all in a fenced off pretty garden so you can bring your dog and know it is safe. There are some stunning dog walks.

You have your own parking spaces.

We are very close to coningsby, Tattershall and Woodhall Spa so there are lots of lovely tea rooms, country pubs with home cooked food and lots of local activities places of interest to visit. Close by there is fishing, farm parks, golf and lots more.

We now have a luxury jacuzzi, outdoor lounge and bar area for hire.

Michelle looks forward to welcoming you to her CL.

Excellent for plane spotters less so for dog and Motorhome owners

An excellent warm welcome from Michelle and neat tidy clean site. Excellent viewing bank for nearby RAF base which was one of the main reasons for our visit. Lots of places to visit with a vehicle but if like us you like to leave the Motorhome on site and walk not much close by. The two previous reviews have covered the downsides. The noisy fast road and lack of easy dog walk make it a one time stay for us, but good for caravanning non dog owning plane enthusiasts.

Good site for visiting the Coningsby Museum

Stayed for a couple of days, nice clean site and Michelle was very friendly. Husband was happy as the Spitfire came over and the Typhoons. Unfortunately the site is on the main road so not suitable for walking but jumped in the van and went to the viewing point. Traffic didn't bother us too much the only noise we had at night was the Typhoons on night exercises but they finished at midnight.

Disappointing not suitable for dog owners

We were very much looking forward to our stay at this CL as we are plane geeks. The site was well kept but small the smallest CL we’ve stayed on. It is right next to a very busy road and as we were pitched right next to it just a fence between us it was very noisy with cars and farm traffic both day and night so couldn’t really sit out and relax, we knew there would be plane noise but not road noise. But our main gripe was the fact that even though the site listed dog friendly there was actually no where to walk the dog on site or off site, the only way to walk them is to walk along the very very busy and fast road (60mph) with no pavement just a small verge covered in brambles which our dog couldn’t walk on so we had to brave the road dodging HGVs and all sorts a few hundred yards to a residential lane to walk him up and down. Some campers were getting in their cars to drive to the lane and walk the dog not ideal especially if your in a motorhome. We had no option but to leave and find another site more suitable. Saying that if you’re a plane buff with no kids or dogs it’s an ideal site for you.

Dakota CL site

What a marvelous stay, Michelle and family really welcoming, the site has EHU, and a water and chemical waste disposal point. Caravan stands on grass, with 5 spaces. Really interesting site, in that it is not too far off RAF Coningsby, and is the flight path of the Battle of Britain Memorial aircraft. We were treated to a flying display from a spitfire, how often do you get to see that! Boston is 8 miles away, with main shops there, Coningsby is 3 miles and has a small Co-op. Michelle is really friendly, and on arrival your given an information book which has various leaflets inside to tell you where the various places of interest are. Basic site, really good value for money, we will be booking again.

Flying visit

What a superb little site, came to watch some flying & ended up with what felt like a personal display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight practicing their RAF 100 display also the Typhoon Display pilot rehearsing his routine. Michelle was a superb host greeting us when we arrived as well as keeping us upto date on the current flying programme. With the Internetional Bomber Command Centre, aircraft museums galore, Heckington Windmill, Lincolnshire Country Life Museum & so much more we have to come back.
