Why stay here ...

Orchard Bank is on the edge of a quiet (but not remote) village. Down a no through road and along a track by a hedge to the two secluded paddocks. We have two large hard standing pitches and WiFi in one paddock and three large hard standing pitches in the next paddock. All approx 10 metres wide with electric hook ups. There is a mains water tap in each paddock.

Surrounded by mature hedges and fields it is a quiet site. However there are many facilities within easy distance. A Celebrity Chef Steakhouse is approx two miles away, there are many ’Foodie’ pubs and cafes on the Sea Front at Clevedon approx fifteen minutes drive away. In the village you could walk the footpath over four fields and the lane to Poppies, a lovely upmarket café. There is a takeaway in the village just up from Poppies and a licensed village Hall, manned by locals. Hill road in Clevedon has lots of designer shops and cafes for Ladies who Lunch.

We are on a level cycle lane for the energetic. To one side of the site are the moors (totally flat) and to the other is Wrington Hill with its woodland and footpaths. Just outside the village about 2 miles distance is the local model aircraft club. The local health club and spa does spa days for non members. It is approx two miles away. The old roman fort is on Cadbury Hill and it is a pleasant walk across fields from the site.

The local wildlife group have put bat and owl boxes in our barn adjacent to the site. We have horseshoe bats nesting in the boxes. Deer often stray into our paddocks. The Mendip Forest and Blackdown AONB is half an hour away with good parking available at a friendly pub (geared to outdoor appetites with a good menu and local beers) adjacent to footpaths/bridleways.

Waitrose/Tesco/Morrissons/Lidl and Asda are all within half an hours drive. In Congresbury 2.5 miles approx away there is an outdoor/farmers store that sells gas/gaz and next door is a post office, newsagents and café.

Bristol is a very easy drive half an hour along the A370  to the park and ride. Weston super Mare with its huge sandy beach and big stores is half an hour the other way along the A370. There is an express bus service on the A370 to Bristol or Weston.

Due to neighbouring livestock we regret no pets or children are allowed on this site. Ideal for outdoor sports loving couples or gentle strollers.

Charles and Diana look forward to welcoming you to their CL.

Delightful site

A really lovely site - largely peaceful - especially in the dead of night. Noise from the nearby airport is a minor niggle but it wouldn't stop me coming. The friendly, flexible and welcoming owners (Charles and Diana!) are very easy to deal with and very responsive by email. Great for exploring the North Somerset coast (Clevedon, Weston-s-Mare etc). Excellent cycle path (the Strawberry Line) in nearby Yatton - safe off-road, and goes all the way to Cheddar. A very pretty ride on a good surface. Easy access to Bristol, too. We loved it here and would not hesitate to book and stay again. Good directions provided - although our Satnav took us pretty much to the door using the recommended route.

Pleasant weekend

I booked in by phone and Diane emailed me very good directions to the site including relevant photos on route. Charlie welcomed us on arrival and Diane came later with a welcome pack with all the details of services in the area. The site is clean tidy and well laid out with 5 large almost level hard standing with gravel surface, 2 water taps, one in each paddock. There is quit a lot of aircraft noise due to the close proximity of Bristol airport and also the railway runs near by, but no flying at night. the position of the site makes it ideal for visits into Bristol only taking 25minuits to city entre by car. This is a lovely site and I will certainly use it again for my next weekend visit to Bristol.

A little Gem of a Site

We booked this site in the hope of getting some sleep as the seagulls had created havoc where we live and were "singing" us awake at 0330 most mornings. We were not disappointed... The approach roads were a bit narrow, but luckily we didn't meet anything coming the other direction, so this wasn't an issue for us. On arrival Diane met us with a smile and a well put together package of all the local information we would need. We met Charlie the next day, when he showed us how to open the middle of three gates to the site entrance without breaking our backs (I'm glad he did as it was obvious really, but we just didn't think due to previous sleep depravation!). We soon pitched up and were met with the longed for peace which we sought. Weston Super Mare is a short drive away and so is Bristol, along the A370. The site is quite central to everything we needed to visit was not too far. The Bristol Airport flight path is above the site but we soon got used to the little noise that there was and enjoyed "plane spotting" with our binoculars. The only other noises which could be heard were a rooster (once, but not in the early hours!), A few cattle mooing and sheep baaing in the nearby paddocks and horses whinnying too. Ahh, lovely tranquil site where we were able to recharge our batteries and listen to the sounds of nature. We put a bird table up which they were reluctant to use at first but by the end of the week we were regularly being visited by great tits, blue tits, sparrows, thrushes and wood pigeons. The wifi was very good, although it did slow down a bit during some particularly unpleasant weather, which was to be expected, but it soon picked up again. We found Diane and Charlie to be most pleasant and helpful during our stay and we would thoroughly recommend anyone to visit here.

Location,location,location

This was my first CL. Going solo as well. Borrowed a campervan. Wanted somewhere easy to get to, not too far from home and on a good bus route. Orchard Bank did not disappoint. I only stayed one night but will be back. Pitch was huge. Price very reasonable and included Wi Fi. Gate padlocked so felt safe. Yes the hard standings were a little rustic but for me that added to the charm. Site enclosed by hedging and was tidy. Grass cut. Very pleasant. It rained heavily that night but the pitch was bone dry. Nice and level as well. Loads of footpaths from the site. Frequent fast buses to Weston and to Bristol. Lots of garden centres and places of interest in the area. Close to AONB and beaches. Friendly welcome and a welcome pack. Di emailed directions with pics of the approach Beverly helpful. All in all a perfect introduction to CL touring. Well done. Be aware that you can hear planes overhead but obviously near Bristol airport can't be helped. Not too frequent and didn't notice at night. In fact I slept so well I overslept!
