A lovely week, on the whole

Willis's Batch CL
I didn't actually get to meet the owners during our week, but my wife did and reported they were very friendly. This is a lovely CL with attractive wooded scenery on all sides, a large grassy field, and easy to get the van level. The main problem for me is that the hook-ups are on two sides only, meaning the available space could not be fully utilised, resulting in a crowded feel to the site. There was another van off-site in an adjacent field, but he was using one of the hook-ups, and another couple went on holiday but left their van on site, taking up valuable space. They could surely have been asked to shift their van into the other field for the duration of their holiday. So there were six vans for half the week, with one unoccupied. This was my only issue, but the overcrowded feel did detract from our stay. The access track is steep and stony initially but it levels off eventually. Be sure to approach from the correct direction, however, as directed in the handbook. With the addition of a hook-up on the other side of the field this could almost be the perfect location.

Lovely site, great stay

Willis's Batch CL
We stayed on this site for 3 nights. It is well looked after and our reception by the owner was excellent. His can-do attitude was reassuring and when we wanted help he was very happy to provide it. The site itself is secluded and surrounded by trees to the south and west, with open field views to the east. To the north there are more fields with the view broken by trees. It is pretty level. The grass pitches and surrounds are well maintained, with water at one end and chemical disposal at the other (2-300 metres between them). Electric hookups are well spaced. Road access to the site is good but care should be taken to follow the directions given in the handbook, as approaching from the wrong direction could be a problem with a tight turn and gradient up a single track driveway to negotiate. Once at the top of the drive the site opens up and is very easy to access. Being close to Bristol airport, one does notice some aircraft noise but we did not find it obtrusive. The site was a working farm but has now been turned over to nature and it is a delight. There are local walks and access to historic Bristol and local countryside/coast is easy. We enjoyed our time and have noted that we should use this site again. Enjoy.

Attractive and well placed

Willis's Batch CL
We stayed here for 6 nights in late May. The site entrance is very well marked but the only daunting thing on entry / leaving was the steep driveway that scuffed our double axle unit underneath - so go slow!! The site was quiet apart from the one odd easy jet flight but we didn't find the noise any bother. Generally the site was clean and tidy and surrounded by meadows and woods - great for the dogs!! Water / waste etc nicely laid out. Fantastically placed for local attractions and 15mins away from Bristol. The site was very free draining in heavy rain. No real complaints here at all and The couple that own the site are really nice, relaxed, helpful sort of people. If this site had individual water points to each pitch this would make the site into something special.

Good cl

Willis's Batch CL
We stayed here from 26/05/17-02/06/17. Well marked from roadside and easy access. Well off the road and no traffic noise although some noise from aircraft taking off and landing but not too intrusive. Lovely walks from field straight into the woods. When travelling around without van in tow we used the A370 as traffic was lighter this way than the A38. SS Great Britain well worth a visit in Bristol. Excellent for adults and children. We also enjoyed a trip to Glastonbury and a climb to the Tor. We were visited by a deer one morning and saw several Greater Spotted Woodpecker. Not a criticism, but suggestion that the bins are individually marked for recycling. Slight confusion over what went where etc. We enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in returning.

Near the airport, but.....

Willis's Batch CL
A great little site with trees all around. We didn't find the take-offs and landings intrusive, and nor did the local bird life. Great dog-walking in the forestry. Just don't try turning down the combe on leaving! It's too tight!
