Why stay here ...

Stackhouse Farm CL site is the perfect site to explore the Yorkshire Dales and with east access to The AONB, the Forest of Bowland and the Lake District National Park. The site is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Stackhouse on the banks of the River Ribble 1 mile upstream from the Market town of Settle.

There are beautiful scenic walks from the doorstep and the site is next to the Ribbleway Walk and the Way of the Roses Cycle route (Sustrans maps), for the more adventurous the start of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge is a few minutes drive away.

It is only a 1 mile scenic walk to the nearest pub or the swimming pool and a further half a mile to the Market town of Settle where there is a Tuesday market, a Victorian Theatre with a varied programme, the railway station which you can travel to Carlisle over the awe inspiring Ribble head viaduct with it's 24 arches or travel the other way for a shopping day in Leeds, or hop on a train at Giggleswick station 3 miles away and take a trip to the seaside at Morecambe where a new Eden project is planned and with stunning a vista from the beach.

In the autumn why not come and view the salmon jumping up Stainforth Foss on their way back to the higher reaches of the Ribble to spawn, or if you are interested in Industrial architecture come and walk through the Hoffman Kiln a giant lime kiln both within easy walking distance of Stackhouse Farm cl or visit Malham cove, Goredale Scar and Janet's Foss all close to one another and a short drive away from this site.

All in all plenty to do and see and with good cafe's, pubs and shops are well within easy reach.

To Good to share this one...... but we must

Stackhouse Farm

A fantastic site within walking distance of Settle, Giggleswick, Stainforth and many of Yorkshire Dales attractions. Small and peaceful with your own water tap/ electricity is charged extra by topping up using a smart phone (ideal for them cold nights). We stayed 3 nights this Easter w/end. The owners are excellent hosting and with comms... Janet was really helpful and visible on arrival (and departure) but we set off early so missed her. Have booked to stay again twice this year - having stayed at many CLs and larger sites, this is one of the very best in a fantastic panoramic location. Very selfishly and reluctantly (as we want to make sure there are vacancies for us) we absolutely recommend a visit to this fairly new good value for money site in a spectacular location. Improving and listening

Stackhouse Farm
A 10 out of 10 site! Whilst the pitches are indeed slightly narrow, we got our motorhome in without any fuss. This is a brand new site and Janet the owner is very keen to hear feedback and is without doubt listening and acting on suggestions. Fir example, owners have insulated all water pipes to excellent levels so frozen pipes all sorted now. Firm plans are in place to widen the pitches and make any other minor necessary changes Previous reviews are somewhat exaggerated! Every pitch has electricity and water, but a minor change I would recommend is a water point on the site turning point for those vehicles with water filling points in the middle of their vehicles. Janet the owner is lovely, checked we were OK and was great communicating. Gorgeous views and a lovely quiet location, but nice and easy to get to town to. Brilliant for walkers with so much to see and do. This is already a brilliant site and will become super popular because of owners efforts to improve constantly. The Starr family

Great CL

Stackhouse Farm
A really warm welcome from Janet the owner whose site is in the perfect location for great views, walks and cycle routes up and down the Ribble valley and beyond. The site isn’t a year old and has new metered electricity and water tap at each pitch also the owner has taken on board review feedback and plans to increase the size and access to each hardstanding pitch. We’ll be back !!

Lovely site with work left to do

Stackhouse Farm
Firstly the positives - the site is within walking distance of Giggleswick and Settle however if you're like us you value peace, tranquility and access to countryside and this site has plenty of walks, a lovely riverside and plenty of quiet nature and amazing views. As others have stated, the bays are narrow but they are set a fair distance from each other which gives good privacy. However, there are a few niggles and one major flaw with this site. Unfortunately there are no dog washing facilities and the hose for the chemical waste is so rigid that its hard to wash out the toilet of the cleaning point. Also, none of the water pipes are insulated, so they froze overnight and we had no means of filling the aqua roll. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge is the electricity meter. Our advice would be to insist on being given access to the app so you are in control of the meter - we weren't given it and it caused problems both days. We arrived on a Friday evening and were lucky enough to have been left £8.50 on the electric meter by the previous occupant, however this ran out overnight despite only standard use of appliances in the van (no TV, heating on gas and electric etc) so we woke up freezing cold. Unfortunately it took several texts, calls and going to the house before the owner topped up the electrics on our behalf as we were not given the app. The £10 top up lasted only 18 hours so we woke up freezing again on the Sunday morning and the water point was frozen so we had no water either. Again, texts were sent and eventually the electrics were topped up again but with no communication from the owners. Overall I'm sure that the teething issues will be overcome as the owners were nice when they interacted, but we left feeling that the trip was more fraught than it should have been, as well as a lot more expensive than expected at £80 for 2 nights (even though we have 200w solar on the van). Overall it cost almost as much in electrics for the van overnight as it does to look after our home which certainly left a bitter taste in the mouth.

Great Site but Further Tweaks Needed

Stackhouse Farm
We stayed over New Year . Fantastic location - we went hiking and cycling direct from the site. The metered electricity is a bit of a faff and we were anxious we would run out without putting lots of money on the meter. The pitches are far too narrow and you have to walk on the grass which was very wet and muddy. You can't avoid driving on the grass because of the narrow pitches and we got stuck in the mud.
