The Scottish town of Mauchline is situated in East Ayrshire, just eight miles from Kilmarnock and around a mile from the River Ayr.
It is famous for its connections with the poet Robert Burns and you'll find that his presence still looms large today if you visit.
There's a museum where he lived with his Mauchline-born wife Jean Armour and a Memorial Tower within the town centre. You can also see Mauchline Castle, which was built as a monastic residence in the 1400s and is believed to be the place where Burns and Armour married.
Aside from Burns, Mauchline also boasts the UK's only working curlingstone factory, the 18th century Poosie Nansie's pub and a natural spring.
For exercise, visitors can try their hand at golf on the local course or walk in the beautiful surrounding scenery, which has a number of caves to explore - why not see if you can find the legendary Peden's Cave?
