Sanquhar is a small market town nestled among the rugged scenery of Scotland.
The town’s main attraction is its Tolbooth Museum, which is housed in a gorgeous Georgian town house, which also reveals the history of life in the village. Visitors are invited to discover what life was like in the town’s jail and learn about the miners and weavers that once lived there.
Sanquhar also claims to have the world’s oldest post office, with a sign above the door of the building - which has been operating as a post office since 1712.
