Could be better.

We stayed for 3 nights on our way to Pembroke, the pub is easy to find although the caravan pitches are a bit hidden away at first glance, no signs that we could see, you have to drive through the car park, luckily for us the car park was empty, could be tight if cars were parked. I had looked on the map and images before.Really good views, but CDP is up beside pub and a bit basic as it is not screened off from pub customers. It is about a mile into Monmouth, but seems a lot further coming back up the hill.

Could be superb.

Visited August 2019. Lovely Pub, good food and ale. Site was very quiet with lovely views. The welcome I had was a little frosty by the lady in the pub. No toilet or shower facilities, not that bothered us, but no signage or Information as to where your emptying points were. With a little bit of thought and TLC this could be a fantastic CL.

A wonderful find

We had not planned on staying here, but the site we had booked in to was totally unusable. A blessing in disguise I think. This is at the back of a smashing pub which happens to do great food with very friendly and helpful owners. The view from the 5 hardstanding spaces was beautiful. Each standing has its own electrics and water. Although it's owned by the pub , there's no noise at all. A super place for visiting nearby delights such as The Brecons, Raglan Castle, Abergavenny, Monmouth itself and the Forest of Dean. Well worth a visit , we will be back

Good but could do better

The Royal Oak, Monmouth. £15.00 per night. September 2018. Easy access from the main road. Hard standings could have been smoother. Good TV signal, good 4g phone signal with 02. Nice views. Pub had a good selection of beers and food. Monmouth itself is a nice town, with plenty of shops and an army museum and local museum. Downsides. The chemical disposal point is quite away from the caravans, up through the car park and by the left-hand side of the pub. I hope that when the works finished outside the pub, they erect some fencing around it for privacy as its next to the outdoor seating area. Although there were signboards where you plugged your electric in for the caravan, there was no signage on it, nothing to say where the rubbish went or your chemical disposal. I feel that this site has a lot more to give, given some time and attention. Tip. Try to avoid arriving around school opening or closing times as the road out of Monmouth to wards the Royal Oak is almost impassable with park cars.

Quiet CL with fantastic views

Stayed here for a long weekend had the site to ourselves for most of the stay. Grass is currently under seed. Easy to access and pitches are level we opted for pitch number 3 so we had a panoramic view across the valley. Waitrose and Iceland are in the town centre of Monmouth. LIdl's is across dual carriageway on Forest of Dean road. Pub noise is minimal and Owners were very welcoming. Will definately be staying again. Gloucester about 30mins away. Public Transport right outside.
