Why stay here ...

Welcome to Woodhall Field, a motorhome-only site located on a small holding in the Wye Valley, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one mile south of Trellech and halfway between Monmouth and Chepstow on the B4293. You are surrounded by nature's peace and tranquillity with plenty of wildlife to be spotted and photographed, including deer, owls, woodpeckers, songbirds and an abundance of butterflies.

Every hardstanding pitch is level and well drained, with EHU, fresh water, grey water disposal, and Wi-Fi. Chemical waste and general rubbish disposal are in a self-contained area away from the pitches, both accessed on solid gravel paths. Dogs may be exercised on a lead in the meadow.

Trellech village, with its award-winning Lion pub, is one mile away, and the garage and village store in Llanishen are three miles away. Tintern, Monmouth, Raglan, and Usk are just a short journey away, offering stunning views of the Welsh Countryside.

In addition to our campsite, we have a very comfortable, well-equipped Lodge adjacent to the Field offering accommodation for a couple. The Lodge is a stone-built stable block which has been lovingly converted to a luxury cottage offering one double bedroom with a king-size bed and an en suite bathroom. The luxury kitchen is fitted with an Induction Hob and Oven, Fridge, Dishwasher, and Washer/Drier. The sitting room is very comfortable, with a sofa and armchair around a log burner. TV and Wi-Fi.

A little piece of heaven!

Woodhall Field
Having had a miserable experience at another (club) site, it was sheer bliss to pitch up at Woodhall Fields. Beautiful, spacious and fully serviced pitches. It really is peaceful with birdsong and the odd car in the lane... Christopher's communication was spot on prior to arrival (including warning about the route in!) and a personal, friendly welcome too. The Lion Pub is well worth a visit ~ we went on Easter Sunday with no booking, expecting them to say "fully booked" but as it was late in the afternoon, we were lucky and got a table and the food was delicious. Service great too; excellent value for money and my husband said, possibly the best roast dinner he's ever had! There are walks directly from site; we have 2 dogs and they loved Ninewells Wood (I was a little less enamoured as it rained non-stop and was muddy!) And Monmouth was a delightful discovery ~ what a sweet place with plenty of history. Having a 5 tonne outfit, we have to look for hardstanding and have been disappointed in the past with what can be classed as this ~ but Woodhall Field is a proper "mini-site" with excellent facilities. We will definitely be back.

Peaceful overnight stay

Woodhall Field
We stayed here in January 2024 for one night after campervan had been in storage for winter. Owners Chris & Nicky were so helpful and welcoming, particularly in booking as the CAMC website was down after being hacked! New site with fully serviced hardstanding pitches. Surrounded by woodlands. Easy access to several local walks and sections of the Wye Valley Walk. We walked to Tintern for a pub lunch. Several local pubs also accessible, you can walk to the pub in Cicelyford. Really enjoyed staying at Woodhall Field.

Peace amongst the trees

Woodhall Field
We had the pleasure of being the first motorhomers to stay at Woodhall field CL. Christopher is a friendly, helpful host and gave us all the information we needed as well as coming to see us to check that everything was ok. He has clearly designed the site based on his own experience of CL sites and has created a great one; the facilities are excellent - fully serviced levelled pitches, top of the range chemical waste point and the pitches are very easy to access with all gravel pathways. The directions to the site are straightforward if you follow the directions on the camc website (but don't follow sat nav as there are some very narrow roads in the area). There is no phone signal, which is a bonus for some, but the WiFi worked really well. We visited the pub in Trellech for a pint which is only 1.5 miles away and was very popular with locals and tourists alike. We also cycled to Tintern Abbey (about 20mins) and the adjacent pub, The Anchor Inn was a nice place to warm up and have a pub lunch. The site is also in a nice area for walking and at this time of year the colours of the trees are beautiful. What we loved most about the site was the peace and quiet and the lovely views of trees all around with no-one to disturb us except the squirrels and the birds! A wonderful site to visit at any time of the year - thank you to Christopher for creating it!
