Set on a small hillside, Minehead Club Campsite is spread across several flat areas, all of which are attractively screened from the road with plentiful trees and bushes. For shopping and all the attractions of a traditional British seaside resort, Minehead is only a 15-minute walk from the caravan site. Another tempting attraction to visit when touring in Somerset is nearby Dunster Castle. Beautiful Exmoor, famous as Lorna Doone country, is also a popular draw, especially for walkers and those with dogs. There are also excellent bus links to explore the Quantocks, Porlock, Taunton and Dulverton.

The coastal path near Minehead Club Campsite is marvellous, with many of its vistas being more impressive than the last. The little lanes and small, intimate villages, such as Porlock, Porlock Weir, Selworthy and the twin villages of Lynton and Lynmouth are all well worth the visit for their charm and easily accessible from the caravan park. You can also enjoy a scenic steam train journey to Bishops Lydeard which takes in plenty of stops along the way. Be it countryside walks or a taste of the rural life, there is bound to be something to delight visitors to this tranquil destination.

Great staff, friendly welcome and spotless facilities

Minehead Club Campsite
We stayed here for 2 nights over the Easter period. First time in about 10 years for us as it's not an easy site to access from Cornwall in a 7m motorhome. Lovely, friendly welcome. You have to park up and walk around to choose your pitch, which we can understand, however it can get a bit congested near reception if everyone turns up at 1pm! Great choice of pitches and we chose to be tucked away in a small section near the facilities block. Very quiet for Easter so we were happy. Facilities block was always very warm and extremely clean. However, it does need updating. Bins and recycling all in one place near entrance to site. Easy walk into Minehead, follow the sites instructions for quickest route in. Nice walk into Dunster (couldn't find the route site suggested for some reason so found our own and it was fine). Co-op, fish & chip shop, Chinese takeaway (that wasn't great in our opinion!) and Indian restaurant just down the road (5 minute walk) so all very convenient. Minehead is a bit of a 'tired town' now (again only our opinion), full of tat shops for charity shops (that I love going around!). We found the Wheelhouse Restaurant to eat in on the Saturday night and it was fantastic. Proper home-made food in a friendly environment. Would stay on this site again but only if coming from the North back home to Cornwall and able to access it via the A39.

Nice spring break

Minehead Club Campsite
This is a clean, tidy and well maintained site in walking distance of Minehead and Dunster for anyone who is reasonably mobile. There is easy access to Wootton Common and Alcombe Common and a great pub 10 minutes walk from the site (Britania Inn) - here's hoping the new chef resumes the previously extensive vegetarian/vegan menu. A good tip (if you don't want to move your motorhome) is to catch the bus to Porlock or Porlock Weir. Wardens were extremely helpful when we had an issue with our van's ignition.

Make sure you book the correct pitch!

Minehead Club Campsite
Have stayed on this site three times in the past few months, in a campervan towing a small car .First two visits were brilliant with extremely nice and helpful staff (Zoe and Sam). As is often the case at club sites, we were told “find a pitch you like and just let us know which one you’re on”. Having done this and found the pitch we preferred, went back to the office and told them which pitch we had picked. The site was quite busy but by no means full. On the second occasion we already knew the pitch we wanted - it was the one we’d previously used so, as it was free, that was the one we used. Now to get to the point - last visit (16th &17th Nov) - we booked in, asked if “our” pitch was free - it was - so advised the new manager ( Zoe and Sam had gone) that’s where we’d be. As you’d expect, at this time of year the site was less than a third full so what’s the issue? Well, as we were setting up on “our” pitch ( white pegs ie hard standing with awning) along comes the new manager to say there is a problem - we’d booked a pitch with no awning (blue pegs) so we couldn’t stay on the white peg pitches. He was quite correct, I had indeed booked a non-awning pitch because we would not be using our awning due to the weather but, and here’s the rub, when I asked if the site was fully booked for our two night stay, it wasn’t. So, would it have been a problem for anybody if we’d used our preferred pitch? You’d probably think not but - Yes, because we’d booked online and there could be another 30+ members suddenly coming for those two nights who’d also booked online so those white peg pitches had to be kept free. “It’s your fault because you booked a non-awning pitch, not mine” Of course the new manager is absolutely correct and Rules are Rules so what am I rabbiting on about? Could a little bit of common sense have prevailed? “Our” pitch wasn’t used nor the four adjacent during our stay. When we left on the Saturday morning there were at least 25 unit on this 49 pitch site. Anyway, the moral of this tale is - it’s NOT a criticism of Minehead Club site, which we definitely will use again, but a warning to everyone - make sure that you book the correct pitch! Nice site on edge of Minehead

Minehead Club Campsite
Our second visit here. We stayed 3 nights in a campervan in mid October. Good, clean, well kept site. Friendly welcome. Toilet block clean. I like the inclusion of 2 separate WCs which is handy when main toilets are closed for daily cleaning. Several landscaped sections on different levels. Some pitches are flat, some you need ramps. On site dog walk. Plenty of info on local bus times etc. in the information room. It's a good base for walking on hills just behind Minehead (Grabbist, etc) or for touring along the coast or to Exmoor, all quite close. Tip: we like to walk along to the harbour and then up North Hill to very picturesque Old Town area.
