Covid 19 and membership

As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

Due to the head in the sand attitude over closing sites and encouraging the idiots,we as a family will not be renewing membership. Our money is going to the private sector and to the cl's the club has booted out and the ones that left voluntary.

But don’t they deserve credit for giving sanctuary to full timers.

Found that our membership expires at the end of the month. Just realised that it's £54 if you let it auto renew but there is a £10 joining fee, so if you let it run out to see what happens it'll cost you £10 for the privilege if you want to re-join. A bit cheeky!

We'll give it a couple of weeks to see if there is any response from this club before we re-join though we'd miss the CLs

The £10 "extra" is not applicable to DD is it?

Are you saying that private sites have acted more responsibly than the club?

Our tour of Scotland in June was to have included a club site, a CL site and 2 private sites. Our club bookings have been cancelled but neither of the 2 private sites have been in touch to advise me that they have cancelled our booking or to give a refund...

I think perhaps they both have "a head in the sand" approach?

I'm not looking for an argument (as I agree that the club was slow to react appropriately), but I think it's unfair to suggest that the private sector is in some way more responsible?

Not so much 'given credit' in my view, One, as they could sensibly have done no other so had little choice. They did the right thing in allowing those folk already on site to remain but I don't think they threw open the gates to provide sanctuary for others.

I don't think the private sector can be lumped together as one entity. Certainly some commercial sites in Cornwall were proactive and they closed while CAMC was still in denial but others did not. There's no one size fits all.

I presume that as June is 7+ weeks away they are playing 'wait and see'.

For our tour of Scotland, one of the private sites has emailed me and I transferred the deposit to the same dates next year. The other so far hasn't, although their website says they are working through April / May bookings on a week by week basis. That site showed as closed on the web site before the CC. The other was closed a few days after.

I agree.

I asked hooker if they felt the "private sector" had acted more responsibly because they said "our money will be going to the private sector...."

I used their phrase as it seemed appropriate.

My own personal experience has been that both the private sites I booked and the club are/were slow to react.

I appreciate that some private sites have not been, hopefully hooker will make a concerted effort to find out which ones these were and book them😊
