Is it a rip off?

Hi I have a rant to get off my chest

Just booked a site for 21 nights for an eye watering £540!   After I got back on my feet I was informed that Caravan and Motor home club have increased their Easter fees this week two weeks early.  Why I ask. even the management were embarrassed and thought it were shocking.

I spent 5 nights last week on a fabulous caravan and camping club site in heart of Northumberland with all the facilities and with over 60s discount £8 pn!

After only just re-joining I cannot  see the benefits of staying with  C&M club prices are beyond out reach.

I am currently on a site where they have raised the price from €18 to €21:for Easter . All the facilities and much more than  you would find on a club sitesmile

Ahh, but it could have easily cost you £500 (?) to get there 😀

spread over 3 months?...

how do you get to UK sites, magic carpet?wink

Someone living here in the SW heading for the north of England or even upto Scotland will also spend a good deal on fuel...

despite three months away in Iberia, we seem to come back 'better off' than had we stayed at home (incl touring in the uk) as our overall costs are less than if we'd stayed at home....

Really find it strange that motorhomers use serviced pitches....why ?  they have fresh and waste water tanks, some are vast others not so big, but all would last at least a couple of days before a trip to the MHSP is needed. Another of life's little mysteries.

Last year we stayed at Waverley Park (not a Club site) on the IOW and all pitches were serviced. We rather liked the luxury of just walking around the back of the van to fill the kettle. Once we have arrived we tend to stay on site and depending on how long we stay a service pitch does have some extra convenience so I am not surprised that motorhomers choose to have a service pitch. We made that decision at Hebden Bridge which does not have a toilet block, also even with a service pitch it was only £20 a night. I don't think I would do it on a regular basis but there might be more circumstances where I might.

I was merely pointing out that the cost of the ferry (£500?) makes it expensive to start with, especially for a relatively short stay. The OP stated 21 days. From a purely economic POV, it doesn’t compare, even with the lower site prices,IMO.

Back to the OP, no I don't think club prices are beyond reach, some are expensive but as many have pointed out there are alternatives available within the club.

I infer from AD's post that the point he is making is that the price rise over Easter is only 3 Euros, not the big jump that we sometimes see on other sites.

I took it that way too 🙂 It was only meant to be a light-hearted comment 😉
