Loyalty not rewarded

The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members.

I have been a member of the Caravan Club for a number of years and have never hesitated in renewing my membership.

My 12 monthly subscription is due again at the beginning of next month and I had intended to renew again but was very disappointed to see that they are, at the moment, offering new members  a voucher for their first night on site. This is despite, I believe, a record numbers of new members joining the CAMC this year. Surely they should be  rewarding their current members ?

There are repeated complaints that insurance companies, internet providers etc. do not treat Loyalty like Royalty and perhaps the actual individual cost is not so great but I will not be renewing my membership until I intend to use a CAMC site or a CL again.

I don't understand this loyalty and why people expect it in either way.

People often expect me to be super loyal to the club but in reality I am loyal only because the club offers me exactly what I want and as soon as they don't then that will be it. Unlikely as that will be I know.

To the OP, and just my thoughts here, is it really the sole reason for not renewing?

£1 per week membership fee saves you £12 per night on site fees I can't see your argument for no benefit/loyalty

Does it really? £12 is over inflated to keep non members away or entice them to join at least for a year. A true saving is measured against commercial sites offering similar facilities. In reality it is often much less of a saving and it can often be cheaper to use good or excellent commercial sites.

I was wondering which of the clubs to drop when the next renewal came round since I make little use of much that either offer. I was pleased when the C&CC did the right thing and like very many other membership organisations extended membership for 3 months. However  now (according to what I read) the C&CC have abandoned foreign touring services and made the staff redundant while at the same time the CAMC are energetically promoting theirs I think it will be them that I leave.

And as I said in the up-date on another thread, the C&CC seem now gradually to be re-introducing aspects of the service. Why not leave both if you make little use of either?

I can relate to the OP's point about being loyal

Quote "The caravan and Motorhome Club does not appear to value the Loyalty of Members."

At the beginning of this pandemic the club appealed to members to stay loyal and keep paying their membership to help them survive. Members have done this to help

Loyalty works both ways.

It was a foregone conclusion that nothing would be forthcoming hence the reason I have remained a non- member.

I have to say, I liked the £120 worth of vouchers for £100.  We bought £300 worth, which means we've 'saved' £60...  that's more than delaying the subscription for 3 months, so I'm happy with that.  Mind you, we've used all of them up! laughing

The way the DG explained it at the AGM was to say that with the exception of Club sites all other aspects of the Club were operating virtually normally. I appreciate that the sites are one of the main reason for being a member but it wasn't the Club that closed them for 3/4 months! The CMC has outshone the C&CC by a country mile if their forum is anything to go by. Their reviews on Trust Pilot are pretty damming as well. It looks as if the Club will have a pretty big deficit so in my view the survival of the Club is more important than some tokenism. Clearly some don't think like that?

I can't see a lot of point in the club using our money to pay for our vouchers. Makes little sense to me.

Loyalty & the sense of it has been eroded & has almost died with most folk over the last 40yrs, when it was encouraged & rewarded back in the day it was enjoyed mutually. Then came the consumer champions who pointed out loyalty was being abused to the extent new customers(in all areas) were receiving better treatment than long standing members/customers who in reality were seen as cash cows & taken for granted. That began a great shift & rift. In my lifetime I’ve seen my cost of living get better at the expense of the huge profits of companies I was taken advantage by. The name club in reality is just a quaint throwback to the former century when it meant something.
