Overseas Travel Survey

I  completed a long and detailed survey for the club this morning and it effectively came down to "are you using Red Pennant or if not why not?"

I jumped ship 2 years ago after using it for 47 trips and told them why. I wonder if the new underwriters are losing them more bussiness than just mine.

very commendable of you, but in my experience this is just to make people think their opinions/observations are important to the business and unless there is a mass "walk-away" from RP, then little will change, unfortunately, even if you have used them for 47 trips.

Are they concerned that recent changes have alienated their regular customers? We haven't been abroad for a few years now, 2016, the last time. We were set to return but we found the application of rules to medication somewhat difficult. Margaret is diabetic and uses insulin. Cover was refused because we couldn't guarantee that each dose of insulin would not vary. Now anyone who understands the use of insulin knows that it needs to be adjusted according to blood sugar levels. Likewise she was taking steroids for a rheumatism condition that meant that during our time away the dose would reduce. The only possible consequence of lowering the dose would be that she would be in more pain, nothing more, nothing less. They were happy to palm us off to another insurer but that would mean we would not have had a joined up policy. I appreciate the Club can't be expected to have medically trained staff to understand the subtle differences in medication but I would expect that of the underwriters but they seem only to go by a very tight definition of what are prepared to accept. So it seems that unless we can find a better policy that offers the same as Red Pennant it seems unlikely we will be able to travel to Europe in the way we used to. Short holidays like cruises or weekend breaks are not usually a problem as the people we use for those trips seem to have a better acceptance rather than a tick box approach.

David have you tried the Camping and Caravan Club?

I have changed to them and the cover looks equal and the long stay rules suit us better and for a lot less.
