Who owns the 'club'

There has been much talk in the 'new name' discussion as to if the CMCC is a club or not. So should the CEO and Chairman decide to vote through a decision to sell the club and all its millions of assets to an equity company or commercial operation (as other clubs have), where would the proceeds be distributed; there's an interesting question, any ideas.

Referring to the Articles of Association, Full Members are required to apply to the Directors and be approved

11.2.2 accepts that, as a Full Member, he will be a member of the Company;

11.2.3 applies to the Company in the form required by the Directors; and

11.2.4 is approved by the Directors.

11.3 An application to become a Full Member may be approved or rejected by the Directors and no applicant shall be admitted as a Full Member or to membership of the Company unless their application has been approved by the Directors.

11.4 The Directors may refuse to admit any person to Club Membership of any kind, without assigning a reason for so doing.

This may just be legal speak, but if what you are saying is correct, has anyone applied to the Directors when joining?

If what you are saying is true and all first named applicants to join the Club are considered Full Members, then I CAN see why people are questioning why there wasn't notification for the rebranding and renaming of the Club given, with an opportunity to vote in a General Meeting. Given that Full Members can vote and according to the AofA, should be notified of pending General Meetings along with the AGM, to allow that voting opportunity.

Yes, you've got it!   Whether members could have had a say, maybe just a yes or no vote? I don't know what the precedents are in other organisations but some obviously feel aggrieved by this omission process over the name change.

I agree with EasyT it is the total lack of transparency that agrieves me.  It would have been a golden opportunity to get the members involved in looking for a future direction.   Instead it's the same old same old.

As Full Members we pass over the day to day running of the club to the committee and the hired help. They have informed us of the changes.

Well I am not a Full member and I doubt that many are in that position on this forum. Therefore I am not in a position to pass anything over to anybody to manage. I am merely a Caravan Club Member

Could have made it a competition for a member to come up with a design for new logo would have been far far cheaper even if they offered a few thou in caravan related prize.

That's why this so called 'Club' will never change it's ways, just like the Football Association.

I think that you are mistaken. I believe that a person paying their membership becomes a full member.  I think that a full member effectively holds one share in the club.  One of the reasons I say this was I complained that because I am the family member, my wife is the first named member I cannot login properly to the website to make for example a booking in my name. The explanation given centred arround there only being one full member per family membership. The person giving the explanation was Mr G Chamberlian.

byelaws. If you look at the attached link you will see that the definitions of both Family and Joint members imply that they are attached to a full membership.

Hi

You correct in your statement so each  membership has a lead person and that person is a full members and allowed to vote at an AGM .

Regards

Mike
