About to test how good it is. 6 month old van stolen from secure storage site.

Anyone any experience of the painful (or painless) experience I’m about to go through?

We have claimed twice via cc insurance, once when i backed the caravan we had at the time into an "invisible" concrete post, and a complete rear panel was needed all done within a month, and when an awning was destroyed, during a storm while on holiday in Kent,a new awning arrived by courier the day, after i contacted the club insurance,(two days in all)so i am sticking  ,at the moment with what has been first class

We have also claimed twice and no issue however the CC have now taken the insurance inhouse and have no track record on claims which is obviously a concern.

Wow, returned from a holiday in Mexico to discover this huge thread. Let me give an update on my claim.

Firstly and important to say, I couldn't be happier with the service provided by the Caravan Club, the insurers (who I didn't need to correspond with) and the claims handlers. It was extremely prompt, professional and empathetic to the situation.

Ultimately we have had a new replacement caravan ordered on our behalf with our equipment replaced too with minimal fuss.

We are relatively new to owning a touring caravan and the theft of our van was very distressing but the insurance was faultless and relieved a huge amount of potential stress in the situation. Given this, I will certainly be renewing my policy with CAMC, even if it costs a few pennies more and would certainly recommend it to others.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your caravan Nemo but glad to hear it’s all been dealt with in such a professional and competent manner.  We have, today, renewed our caravan insurance with the Club and far from being ‘a few pennies more’ we found after our investigations that it was cheaper than many competitors on a like-for-like basis.

As a matter of interest was the policy taken out before the CC brought it in house as you would still be dealing with Devitt and the old provider?

Pleased to hear your claim was stress free Nemo!

I do seem to remember a letter explaining the changes & a drop in premium at last renewal, (April)

I believe my policy has been entirely under Devitt

Glad you got it sorted out.  When we had to claim the whole thing was handled smoothly by Devitts.  Seems the new in house still has to prove itself which is why we would avoid using the CC for insurance for awhile.

A concern is that if you have new for old and 5 years down the line there is an issue with the CC cover and it goes into admin where does that leave you?

I think the CC are biting off too much without consulting members first!  We have all seen what happened with Alan Rogers etc.

Devitt are still handling the claims, it is only the business that actually writes the cheques that has changed so the service should remain the same.

Just tried to get a quote and they were over £100 more than C&CC which was just too high for me.

Seems that they perhaps want to build up capital before they have any claims?
