Money and resources wasted by the Club

We have had breakdown cover through Mayday for a number of years and it is automatically renewed each year.

Today we received through the post details of the benefits of joining and telling us that 8 out of 10 members renew!

I wonder how many other members had the same correspondence. It really is a waste of money and materials sending information to those already having Mayday cover. Why is the Club not showing a responsible attitude to the earth's resources rather than adding to recycling or even landfill?

Surely it is possible for the computer database to have information as to who does not need to be sent such information.

Membership number ending ....508 actually. What you'll see from my replacement post is that the option for alternative cover was not clear and led to my comments. It also says I've now signed up to Mayday. If you look at my original post I really wanted to take out RAC cover but would have had to join CCC to get cover.

One club's enough to cope with methinks.

Unfortunately, by deleting your post, which contained far more than you suggest, you left mine in isolation leaving others wondering what I was talking about. Perhaps an edit of yours would have been more appropriate?

I’m puzzled that you thought Green Flag was only available to CAMC members. What a confusion! I hope you now understand the difference and can see that the Mayday version is a perk for club members.

Incidentally, many of us belong to both clubs in order to have a wider choice of sites.

May I suggest you contact the Community Manager with regard to the 'Member' banner being missing from your avatar?

belonging to any business usually gives some benefits, for example a higher rate on the Euro with a nectar card at Sainsburys. I'll check out the local competition and it's better I'll go there this week. Is that fair on non nectar card holders?

Thanks Cornersteady, I deleted a comment after you beat me to it by posting something that I was unaware of. Specifically that it IS possible to get Green Flag caravan cover (albeit a lesser cover) without belonging to the club. Nowhere in CAMC or Mayday is that clear. Reason is obvious when the Mayday welcome phone message includes words to the affect that "a commission is paid to introducers'. No surprise then that marketing is skewed the way it is.

I've joined up now just feel that I've been coerced rather than coming to it willingly.

always happy to help, but I'm not sure about knowing the nowhere does the CAMC say this?

Even Which magazine reviewed Green Flag a few months ago in it's own right as a breakdown service. Also the club is very clear

Mayday Vehicle Rescue is the Caravan and Motorhome Club's UK breakdown and recovery service in partnership with Green Flag. Designed specifically for your car and caravan or motorhome whether you're touring or not.

Feel coerced why?

Looks like I'm not a member TW undecided.

Ah, but we know you're a member, DD. You wouldn't be forking out all those extra 12 quid nightly supplements for all your stays on club sites! wink
