Hiya folks.

I seem to have developed a squeak when braking. I checked the wheels for heat, and noticed that the offside is slightly warmer than the near side, but only slightly. Something to be concerned about I assume? Back to the dealer? And yes, I tried a search šŸ˜‰

Well, you might be happy with scored drums after only 500 miles, Iā€™m not.

I dont think I actually said any body to be happy with scored drums. I actually said as far as I was aware the squealing did not impact on brake preformance, just as others have also sai I see.

I have to ask, would you be happy with scored drums, that have an effect on braking?

What evidence is there that there was an impact on brake preformance? I suspect if there was any impact it would be minimal.

Yes  we have had noisy brakes.  first started when we used caravan  after it's  1st service in April 2018 Have to say noise wasn't every time we slowed down or   braked and brakes  didn't seem to be  binding as Car performance was fine. .

Mentioned  brake noise to the Approved Fitter who carried out the 2nd Service, He was well aware of problem comment was  cheap shoes being used. Brake drums and Shoes were cleaned during service. Since 2nd service  and 300 plus miles the brakes have not been  noisy.  So far So Good  but time and  mileage will tell.

I  think as  long as the Brakes pull off when you move off  things should be  o k. This  depends on the over run mechanism etc operating correctly.

Oh!  I have to say.  When Caravan is not in use for some time I Chock the wheels and leave the handbrake off. So the linkages and Springs etc  are not stressed.
