Hello everyone.

Does anyone tow a Series 4 Bailey Unicorn Cabrera with a Range Rover Evoque?

Just interested in your views & experience if you do.

Yes I do know it's over the 85% rule but I'm curious nonetheless.

Thank You.

For all those who have never seen an Evoque towing anything, here's a photo of ours pitched up at beautiful St Jean Pied de Port a couple of years ago.

I recently purchased a used Discovery Sport as a tow car. Whilst researching tow cars I obtained brochures and read the details of the Evoque. I was surprised when comparing the Evoque and Disco Sport most Evoque models had poor tow weights compared to the Disco.

Unfortunately I recently cleared out the brochures so cannot reference them.

Why not look on the LR website and look at the technical details tab of a used Evoque or look out the model details of the new ones.

Hi everyone, well I took the plunge and have now towed over 1500 miles in the Evoque and its been great.

A real pleasure to tow again with an automatic and nice and solid on the road despite the heavy van. It's really gutsy and with better acceleration and speed than the Freelander and delivering anywhere between 25 and 28 mpg which I'm really pleased with.

Perhaps the small boot and non flat folding rear seat is why caravanners are deterred but for me using it as an everyday business car as well as the tug it's ideal...and also means I dont take so much useless stuff with me! wink

Thanks for your help and I thought I would round off the post by saying I'm well happy with it as a towcar and to provide a little comfort for those who may be considering buying one to tow.

Enjoy your vehicles, whatever you have.

Glad you're pleased with it.

It's nice when folks return with outcomes 😉😀

I had a freelander 2 for 5 years all it ever needed in that time apart from regular servicing just like all cars, was 4 new tyres. If they still made them I would have another one. Before anyone says I was lucky before that I had a freelander 2, and 2 freelander 1’s. Every one trouble free.

Glad you’re pleased with the new car, though you would be!

Will look out for you on our travels.

And here’s another photo of ours, pitched up on a very nice campsite in Cantabria.

In response to your question we do tow with a 2018 Range Rover Evoque, 2ltr 150 bhp.

Pulling power great, large mirror great for reversing, comfort excellent.

We arrived on site having driven in some strong winds on Friday evening with no problems.

Our Swift weight is 1450kg.

Would we get another evoque, yes we would with the only alternative for us being the Discovery Sport. For us nothing compares in this segment.

I can only speak from experience of a freelander and a disco sport.  Both excellent towcars and virtually trouble-free.  A friend has a discovery which so far has behaved impeccably over 65k miles.  Only complaint is that LR dealers are expensive, although their service has always been good.  I have towed a Bailey Olympus, Bailey Unicorn series 3 and a Coachman VIP 575 with these vehicles.

So much depends on how one drives and looks after a car.  Over the years, I have made my own mind up about which cars appeal to me.  Among them were a Rover 820 (slated for reliability) which was excellent over 80k miles and a mercedes E-Class which rusted, experienced collapsed front suspension and which I eventually sold after spending a fortune trying unsuccessfully trying to have turbo-lag cured. I am wary of those who are pedantic about which makes are invariably reliable and which are not.
