I would normally agree ET. However, my annual subscription (the 4th I think) ran out last October. Because of Covid I didn't get round to renewing it at the beginning of the year. When we started our tour at the beginning of the month I held off renewing, as the sites were totally full, even mid week and I suspected that the system would struggle. Sure enough trying to use the "free side" of it for CT has generally been dire. I think it is likely a result of both the increased numbers on site and the slightly different clientele than a normal year. Anyway I have decided to use my phone data for the moment and see what next year brings.

I have been on pretty full sites in June and July with no problem but with a likely change in those using sites this year you may be right. Possible though that those using it might not fair well this year. If we go away at Christmas it may be we use mifi then.

We've had many a discussion along those lines, Steve, and the direness has always been my experience and 4G generally outperforms it.

This van has a built in mifi with a roof mounted aerial which is supposed to pick up 4G even better than the phone.  I'll give that a try ....one day.

The attitude of the Club to WiFi issues is deplorable. Having a problem with WiFi staff and notifications always point out that its not the Club's issue its the providers. That's not good enough its a revenue stream that the Club participates in and derives benefits from. The system is not fit for purpose on too many sites and the Club should be encouraging the provider to improve its service or find another provider. There are two main issues for me if you exclude the fact that it is a subscription service that many independent sites do not charge for. The signal coverage is frequently poor sometimes due to the position of your pitch on the site and sometimes due to how many users are logged on. This brings me to the second issue, the use of more than one device. To try to limit the number of users logged on the provider uses a system where it expects users to 'log off' when they finish using WiFi and must certainly do this before accessing using a second device. However, the signal regularly dissapears making it impossible to communicate to Log Off or even finding the right web link to log on an alternative device.

I just paid £11 for 7 days WIFI but had to keep logging in every time I went to use it. Only allows 1 device so might as well have just used my data,

That is what many of us now do as a first choice. For the sort of use you can get out of Club wifi in terms of limitations of download you won't use a lot of data on your phone I wouldn't think.

Have been on four different sites now over this month. All full. The WiFi is struggling to cope. I revert to phone hotspot for downloading; too impatient to wait. But for emails etc. it’s adequate. Does anyone know if annual subscribers got a COVID extension? I appear to have over 130 days left, when I was expecting it to run out late October? Is there any way of seeing when I last subscribed? And any chance it works with a Kindle Fire now, without frying it?

Yes, Air Angel did give an extension. I can’t recall the details but it's on the website somewhere.

You would think that the Club would e-mail subscribing members to advise of when their subscription to the wifi runs out and of any extension they have been given, not just leave it to members to try and find the info on the website.  I am afraid that I have to agree with the many detractors of the Club's wifi, as the service is often not very good and the lack of communication regarding not just the wifi service but many other matters is abysmal.

The club probably doesn’t know who subscribes to wifi. You pay Air Angel and deal direct with them for the dubious pleasure of using it.
