Due to lockdown our annual site WiFi subscription has not be able to be used. I telephoned Air Angel the providers who kindly extended both mine and my wife’s annual subscription by three months. It was all done over the phone on 0333 240 7610. Hope that is helpful to other members in this situation.

At this time club WiFi is free as we have been on two  club sites , and have used it without needing to pay, and that included what the club WiFi  is designed to to be used for ,which did not include streaming

This answers a query I had, when I try to logon I get two options the day rate or Covid-19 access which is free. I wondered what was going on. Now I know.

Thanks

For fear of sounding totally thick, why is Wi-Fi not provided free of charge at all sites. It is no longer a luxury and at C&MC sites you can be paying upwards of £35.

The vast majority of the sites we use abroad provide it free, although it might be restricted to near the office or bar.

We are on our 2nd CL this year and it has been free on each.

Last year it was free at 4 of the 6 CL's visited, 3 of the 3 Independant sites and 0 of the 2 C&MC sites.

What am I missing?

Why would some one pay "upwards of £35"when  at sometime the annual fee was £27?undecided as supplied by the provider on club sites "air angel" but at this time is still freecool

EM, there's no such thing as a free lunch. If providing wifi carries a cost, someone has to pay. Personally, I would rather the users paid for it than to have it added to pitch fees.

When I said £35 I meant as your nightly pitch fee.

I don’t recall seeing a free option at Berwick but might have missed it as I went straight to the use the CC web site option.  Culloden does not have it so can’t check here. The independent site we stoped on at Pitlochry has a lot statics and Wifi was anything but free. Didn’t use it but it was £3.50 for an hour, then a rising scale to over £180 for a year. Makes the CC offering seem reasonable.😂

We have been here at FM for a while and the WiFi  is still free , it could go off anytime from now, owing to an on going power fault on this part of the site,  with about 20 pitches out of use, good job it is a big site and not busy at this time

The problem is that the club has got a mixed charging policy for “extras” so everyone has to pay towards washing up areas and shower blocks whether they use them or not, so perhaps the same should apply to WiFi. Perhaps my logic is wrong but I’m sure someone will tell me.

In normal times I don’t think anyone would pay full facility prices if they didn’t intend using the facility block.

I stated my preference but it doesn't mean I’m right and you're wrong. My experience of site Wi-fi is that it has been quite appalling so I choose not to buy it. Therefore, I don’t want to be charged for it by the back door, ie in with pitch fees.
