OS map Grid Refs gone!!

I did put it together myself but anyone can do it. You take the >Club sat nav files<,use the Garmin files (CSV) create yourself a google account open Google maps go Your Places/Maps/Create Map and import the sat nav files.

The only drwaback is you need internet access to look at Your Places.

 Sorry you cannot load the Garmin files straight into Google maps you will need to do the following:

Open the Garmin file using Excel

Edit the file using Find and Replace to delete the quotation marks (") and the greater than sign(>), the latter you replace with a space.

Google maps won't load these symbols

Save the file and this should import into Your Places when you create a map.

Thanks peedee for the instructions - I'm very happy tweaking CSV files in Excel so will give it a try!

Hope you find it useful Ask66. I originally did the exercise just to improve my knowledge of how to use Google Maps. I usually download the Garmin files, adjust them in Excel and load them on to my digital OS maps. I can use these off line on my tablet or laptop but what you don't get is the satellite or street view that you can get with Google Maps. Both forms of viewing sites have their uses.

Have you tried Streetmap enter the postcode this will bring up an OS map with an arrow pointing at that area the arrow can moved to fine tune the location then click the convert coordinates button and up will pop a list including the 6 figure OS reference
