Site Guide and CL Web Site Prices

Is there any official instruction in force to compel CL owners to update their price guide shown on the clubs website to that shown in the official site guide?

I have noticed that a couple of CLs we have stayed at this year have increased their price by £1 per night in the site guide but their prices have not yet been upgraded on the clubs internet pages. So is there a rule in force and if not should there be? What control or supervision does the club undertake?

Personally I always check when making a booking but if the lower web price is left in force for a long time then this is misleading and can leave a sour taste if it differs by a large amount.

Moderator Comment - Just added CL into the title so this does not get confused with another on going discussion.

I spent a rather frustrating time last night, looking for CL'S for a trip in May, details /prices  differ on Web page to SD book. Sometimes the SD book is more up to date than the CL Web page and other times its the other way round. yell Emailed  one CL web/ book price both said from £15 but was told price this year was £20!  So neither had been updated frown Good job I checked., or it would have been a bit of a shock embarassedlaughing

That also happened to me a couple of days ago...found a CL for an overnight stop....quote was £13 in SD....when i rang to book the price was £20. Still cheaper than £31.20 pn for the CaMC site just up the road..(market forces spring to mind !!)..

Take the price that some of them tell you with a dose of salt. In 2017 I had 2 cl’s quote a price when I have booked only to have put the price up between me booking and arriving some months later. Beware of this tactic.

I always ask for confirmation of the price by email when I book and keep the emails to take with us. But never found an occasion when the price differed. Maybe we've just been lucky? smile

I too have had the same problem this morning Helen. I have booked 2 sites for early Spring, both of which have quoted a price that exceeds the price in the newly published guide and their website. Obviously up to me to accept or decline them as I was informed of them in the email but nevertheless what is the point of having them on the website in the first place? One of the prices wasn't even close to the website price.

About time some co-ordination between CMC and CL owners took place.

Some cls still don't have an email unfortunately so bookings have to be done over the phone. I confirm the price per night and have also been lucky that the price hasn't increased when we stay, it would be difficult to prove.undecided

I normally then write to the CL owner confirming the booking and also the price agreed, just to be on the safe side. Also helps when I try to remember where I'm supposed to be going!smile

We booked a CL on our last trip, for 4-9 Jan, by phone, and was told that it was the same price as shown in the SD & on the web. When I went to pay was told it had now gone up by 25% for this year, but they did only charge us the old price. The reason for the high jump in price as they were in the process of fitting full services to the pitches and they'd not increased their prices for over 4 yrs.

Hope that you told them to stick it and pointed out the error on the web site to them, H&T, and then found another that suits.

I have just been looking at a site in the New SD It says £15 for basic cl with ehu per night. When you check on the website for reviews etc, the price says £20 per night and that was set 30/08/2016

With information like that you  pull your hair out.

Looking at my receding hair line I seem to have had lots of trouble when booking yell

Perhaps those that had booked were under the impression that it was still the old price and didn't enquire about the current when booking....we always do.
