Not much chance of France this summer

Little chance of a French holiday this summer I'm afraid. The French Government have just announced today ( 2 May) that their state of emergency will continue until 24 July and that anyone entering from another country must undergo 14 days quarentine. If you take a look at La Provence online you can read the original article ( in French) .

Rufs, I've just checked the two Club's insurance offerings, currently suspended, but both are saying they will not cover anything to do with coronavirus.  Whether that will still be the case once it's safe to travel, I don't know, but personally, I will be looking elsewhere if they can't provide medical and repatriation cover if anyone is struck down with the virus.

I've checked with Staysure and they will provide cover in the event of coming down with corona.  I've had quotes from them before and they are quite a bit dearer than the C&CC.  Today's quote from them for 3 months in Spain is around 3-4 times dearer.

thanks, yes i have used Staysure before, will wait awhile longer to see what pans out, Spain borders will be open, but would need France to do same. As they will probably be our only outing this year we may have to splash the cash a little bit if we want to go

We have lately been sailing direct to Spain and returning via France but it may be easier  if we get to go this autumn to cut out France and sail both ways. Have about a month to decide about current booking to Rotterdam.

Autumn crossings of the Bay of Biscay together with not liking to put the dog through the stress of a rock and roll journey spoil that option for us, and we have had a couple of shockers.

Well the latest from our Prime Minister is from the 2nd of June campsites, bars restaurants and beaches/lakes also museums, in bars and restaurants you will have to wear a mask and once seated you will be able to take them off, as to campsites we presume it will be up to the sites which will open and others may open later.

Should be ok for July rich 81.

Very warm here at present 32C forecast for today.

We have had 5 millpond crossings so far, realise it can be rough one time one a cruise it made the national news the day after we crossed  . However we like long crossings  Spain and North Sea and it's another reason why we don't have dogs.

although we tend to drive through France to Spain for our winter break, like David, weve had some pretty calm Biscay crossings in the past..smile

We should be back in Cavalaire right now but the plan seems to have been scuppered, so here's an additional ice cream selfie from our back gardencool

Instead of relying on hearsay it would be better to go on to the various Govt websites to see what "opening up" actually means.  The UK Gov website has quite a lot of info and the French one too and has a translation into English.

I won't be making any plans yet no matter how tempting it seems.  And don't forget insurance may not cover you for Covid related issues.
