It is good practice in the wider sense but it makes no sense at present.  At one second to 1100 GMT a ham sandwich is safe at one second past it's not?  The Dutch are just being bloody minded.

Or acting like all "security personel" how many have had their food confiscated? ,as in this country it is down to interpretation by some

I do hope that it is not a bit of "fake news?" as what about the many EU drivers that have bought food in this country to have on journey home?

Under the new rules the Dutch have every right to do as they are doing; that said it does seem rather mean.  Of course they export some Euro 3 billion of fruit and veg, meat, and flowers and plants to the UK each year and we, the great British public, could equally start a boycott wink.

As I understand it the Dutch, and any other EU points of entry will be checking for POAO-products of animal origin-the import of which is banned/restricted so presume that will not apply to fruit & veg etc.

The reports seem to be about items being confiscated but who knows when they will move to imposing penalties, or what they might be.

Recent media reports in Cornwall said that our shellfish suppliers have had their business wiped out as they are, at the moment unable to export live shellfish which, according to the report, amounted to 2000 tons a week.

Not being bloody minded at all. We left the club with standards they require.  Just this week permission has been granted by our government for the use of an EU banned insecticide on sugar beet crops that kills bees, The shape of things to come .

As yet we have not changed our standards and the exit agreement requires us to inform them if we do.  For the present the ham has not changed.  They are just making a point and they have every right to do so.

Interesting report about the way Spanish expats are now facing up to the reality of Brexit. Removal firms fully  booked in both directions.  Pensioners running out and youngsters  going in the opposite direction for a new life

The pensioners as unless their attitudes have changed when we met them when in mainland EU wanted all the "benefits?" but also the many services that they may now not get from the UK wink

Ham sandwiches posed a significant threat to the spread of swine flu a few years back, now we're on our own regarding food standards vigilance will be needed on both sides.

sure i read somewhere that they were confiscating oranges ??? could be wrong, but whatever, just another note to my admin assistant to check that we are not exporting/importing any bacon, sausages or anything else for that matter that we normally stock up with for the trip down before visiting the local Mercadona on arrival at final destination,

anybody know if food for pooch is affected?, guess we may be ok with the dried stuff, but tin stuff could be on the black list.

Oh well chances of going overthere any time soon are pretty slim so we have time for everything to calm downundecided

All are capable of that including us🤷🏻‍♂️. It’s nothing to do with timing-a time has to be given so both sides are on board & aware👍🏻. You need to look deeper, be it 10mins to 1pm or 30mins past 9am it means nothing it’s the action that’s paramount.
