I read elsewhere that C&CC are closing some sites and cancelling people’s bookings due to staff shortages. Sure enough, it's true and they've updated their website today. I hope nobody here is affected.

And yes, there is a difference between many and most!

Posted on 14/10/2021 21:57

you should be in politics thensmile

Post edit - It would appear that many is greater than most?

many means "a significantly large number," whereas most denotes a group large enough to represent the default case — which will most often but not invariably be more than half

I said most sites are like that, you said many sites are like that. So thanks for proving my point!

Like I said if you're debating many v most you should be in politics!

Then that field should do you just fine, it's never had more than three vans on it even in high summer, it's within walking distance of Durham toosmile

Each to their own TDA, we book club sites and really cost hasn't come into it - yet!

I was going to ask where it was😂 Honestly, we like places like that so long they are quiet and safe. Useful that one, we are up there quite a bit. OH has used a £5 a night field near Consett. He takes me to posh places though......£8 a night, not far from Corbridge😁

The C&Cc took 9 sites off their list, 2 are due to re-open next month. CAMC have just closed 3 sites, all due to labour shortages.

It's quite disconcerting to be on the receiving end of a cancelled booking especially if like us you were hoping to go to a certain area for a particular reason. There is a likelihood that local CLs might save the day in these circumstances!

you can count in affiliated sites too.

err no, it's my count so my rules smile

AS are not club sites in any shape or form at all. They are completely independent of the club, have their own set of rules, bookings and procedures. Some even charge deposits and not subject to the cancellations rules of the club!  They just get (for a fee I imagine) the use of the club's name but that is it. It has been discussed before and those that 'expressed a view' all said they are not club sites with no one saying differently. I'm sure they are good sites but not a club site.

Indeed you appear to be short changed club site wise in your neck of the woods. I assume it is only the CL network that keeps you a member?

You mean I have to count again?!

We do not often use affiliated sites these days, and in the past 23 years  I can think of only 2 in Scotland, one on the IOW, one in Northern Ireland, 2 in Wales and 3 in England, so that leaves 78 proper Club sites.

We do use CLs more often these days, but you would not remain a member purely to use CLs in Scotland, they are also in short supply!   Especially if you want EHU.   Other parts of UK are  better served.

To improve  our choice up here we are also CCC members, on our recent trip up north we used 1 Club site, 1 CL, and 3 CCC sites.

We are also looking around more these days at non-club sites, having searched out a few around here with toddler friendly facilities for DD, and used some of the small sites in other parts of UK, having found them from the thread on here.

No you don't have tosmile

I've just been looking at some AS in Scotland and there are seven and best kept away from booking wise in my view! Some don't just charge deposits but non refundable deposits even if you cancel well in advancesurprised

Yes with family you have to choose what is best for them.

Corners, If you don't believe me about the lack of inviduality of Club sites then see what the Trudgians have to say about them.

 Not what my dictionary says!

"many" is defined  as a large number, whereas "most" is defined as the majority.

I seem to remember, when learning English at school about 65-70 years back that it went ........ many.......more.....most.

To me that means that most in any one group of items, such as  Club sites,  must be more than many.

However, time for bed, I have to drive to North Berwick tomorrow, leaving here at 8am, to pick up our caravan.

PS........waiting to hear what your count of Club sites is.     Or did I miss that somewhere?

Well I guess many would say the same and most would agree. laughing

But I've lost the plot on this thread more than once, so that's once too many.....wink
