Cirencester Park access road

We were out walking near Cirencester today so thought we'd divert to wander past the club site to see how things looked.

Well, not sure if this is good news or bad, but the access road has been diverted..

So - good news - for anyone with a pothole aversion - it's been resurfaced and the tarmac is now billiard table smooth (apart from the inevitable speed humps!)

Not such good news - instead of a long straight road with plenty of wide stretches to allow for units to pass it is now very narrow and winding, with large boulders each side at the entrance and just a couple of small lay bys for passing, so heaven help you if you meet another unit coming in or out.

I can't see any practical alternative to the "off by 12 and no arrivals before 1" arrangement. We'll just have to wait and see - well, not us obviously! wink

We're booked into Cirencester Park at the end of July.  I'll wait until nearer the time, but likely to cancel.

A 3m wide road is one thing, but the rocks are another.

A short-term measure that might work is a set of temporary traffic lights?

I doubt you'll get that bus around there 😄.

Mind you, after the lanes of the SW, it'll be child's play😋

We’re due to visit on the 4th. I must admit I’m a bit apprehensive about it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

When you get your call from the cc about payment and your time slot you could put the questionwink

i think something obviously went wrong in the consultation process. Was the Club railroaded or did they drop the ball? The design looks absurd for the vehicles that will use it. I might venture to try it solo but certainly not towing.

Do you not think that the "relevant" CAMC person was on furlough and therefore not able to be involved?

I believe planning was started in June last and approved around December. So no excuse of C19 over that period. We actually visited at the beginning of September and middle of October and didn't see any notices, although I suppose they would have been posted somewhere.

Surely the college would have realised the plans would effect the caravan site that they would have made sure they Club had its say?

I think that video is doing members a great service and the club should not be thinking of opening the site until something is done to make access fit for purpose. We none of us are perfect drivers, I clipped some bushes doing some cosmetic damage to the van , insurance bill £3300 . Touch one of those rocks and it could be a write off

Did the video not show the old pot holed road adjacent to it?

Perhaps it would be safer just to re-open that!
