CL inspections

We booked a CL back in March for a ten day stay. Upon arriving today we were most annoyed to find SIX OTHER UNITS pitched, who clearly were not leaving. We were expected as well, since there was a stake with our name on it where we, THE SEVENTH were expected to set up ! Needless to say, we didn't.

Are there no checks ,especially in ' honey pot' areas like the South West , especially with the boom in 'staycationing'.

The owner was most put out on finding that we wouldn't be stopping, claiming that she could have let the spot many times over.  Not without breaking the rules, she couldn't!

We know lots of CL owners, and many tell us of the visits from someone from Club. We also know of a couple of ex CLs who were “struck off” after being reported by Club Members and locals (can’t recall what for mind). Both are still active, and thriving in a different guise.

It isn’t always Members reporting that cause a CL to come off the network. There are occasionally some very anti visitor locals who cannot wait to give CL owners a knuckle rap, await every opportunity to get on the phone to Club HQ.

One CL owning friend (whose CL has been operational for well over 45 years) is currently getting a lot of grief from a neighbour. No apparent reason, but I think lockdown has been difficult for the individual in question.

Calling for a chat is very different to "enforcing rules". From what members say on various notes the club dont seem to consider the Cl's as that important

Looks like the easiest option for them is to get local auth grant to extend. Probably no more than the fee and agreed without planning meeting as a "devolved responsibility" to the planning officer. Gets rid of the complaints and gives them more flexibility.

You may have achieved one fewer CL on the list. Was that your intention?

If that's the outcome, so be it ! I, as a member am aware of the rules regarding numbers. Site owners certainly should be too.

By attemptig to accommodate more than the allowed 5 vans may be acceptable to some,  but by having excess numbers, they are putting members, their CL Certificate and our exemption at risk.

A CL is certified to accommodate 5 LVs  the owner was abusing  what was issued so it already was not a CL  so should be taken out of the concesion they were given

Go ahead and dont be surprised  when it disappears from the guide. Nose and face comes to mind.

I’d rather CL’s like this weren’t on the system then we wouldn’t be having these issues and everyone would know where they were.
