Anybody received this yet?

"We look forward to welcoming you shortly on our UK Club campsites.

Ahead of your arrival, we wanted to give you advance notice that we’ll be making a small increase to our UK Club campsite prices for stays between 5 April 2022 and 3 January 2023 inclusive.

The unfortunate and sad events which have engulfed the world in recent weeks have meant worldwide electricity costs have increased exponentially. In fact the Club's electricity costs are forecast to increase by an unprecedented amount of around 50% this year.

The fairest way for the Club to manage the rising cost of energy required to run our UK Club campsites is for all members to pay a little bit extra when staying with us this year. This small price increase will support the Club in the face of the rising cost of energy and also help ensure that we can continue to reinvest in improving the UK Club campsite network.

What this means for you:

The increase will be between 70p and £2.50 per night depending on the season and the campsite you are planning to stay on. These calculations are based on a standard touring pitch and two adults.
From 5 April 2022 you’ll be able to see the exact new price you’ll pay by logging into ‘My profile’ and clicking on the ‘My UK Sites Bookings’ section.

There’s no need for you to do anything, on arrival at the campsite you will be charged the appropriate amount.

We appreciate this price increase will not be welcomed, however we would like to share that members have saved over £12.5 million on stays at our UK Club campsite network since July 2020, as the Club passed on the full Government VAT rate saving to members.

We need your support to ensure our wonderful Club can continue to operate all of our amazing campsites at the same high standards during the busy summer season and into the winter, when we expect utility costs to rise further.

What can you do to help:

Below are a few hints and tips to help reduce the cost of electricity usage when you are staying on one of our campsites.

If you have a solar unit on your outfit please use it as much as possible
Make sure indoor and outside lights, any heating appliances and electrical equipment are all turned off when you go out for the day and overnight
We want members to enjoy many holidays with the Club this year, so thank you for your continued loyalty and support, and we wish you an enjoyable 2022 season of touring.

Best wishes
The Caravan and Motorhome Club"

I think saveings should have been looked at

it’s now cheaper to stay in a travel lodge

which I know is no comparison in terms of what we want from our time away but I have a feeling that this might be the final straw with fuel prices though the roof the last thing any one wants is a price increase on dates you have already booked . If this was a package holiday form there would be a outcry . Maybe it’s time for us run of the mill members to start questioning where our club is going

This would seem to indicate that the club isn't actually locked into a fixed deal, which would surprise me. If that is the case then this won't be the last increase this year.

Why would the location of the site mean a differential increase? I can see why seasons would be charged differently. Plus what will the other increases be if you do not fall into the "2 adult, standard pitch" category? Price per child? Extra adult? Serviced pitch? Why would a serviced pitch attract a different increase?

So many questions. Too many as once again there isn't enough information.

I think if you had already booked they are on a sticky wicket by increasing the price. If you are making a fresh booking then I can understand it.

WN - energy prices vary across the country which might explain the variation. Also, some site facilities may be more fuel efficient than others so use less.

EM - it's not the first time the club has raised prices after bookings have been made. It’s covered in the small print somewhere where it explains something along the lines of the price at the time the booking is taken up is the one that applies.

The price increases are only to be expected with both energy and fuel costs soaring. There is a knock-on effect with everything and I fear we've seen nothing yet - this is just the start. The site fee increases are inevitable and I think we need to accept that there’s no point in complaining about it.

Whilst I think we have all expected price increases, to increase prices on existing bookings, sticks in the throat a little. It is dishonourable and makes one value the price of club membership.

No I haven't received this e mail. I have signed up for e mails in the communication preference area on "my profile." I don't think this area is working correctly and have already queried this problem. I wonder how many are missing out on information.

Thanks for the info Jill. I'm not surprised to see price increases for energy but it would be good if CAMC could find ways to reduce wastage or over use.

Price increases. if some has already booked I can’t see you should be charged the increase also previously stated by another comment why should it make a difference to what site your on.Also the statement from the club in the email about passing on the vat savings ,they should of it. Was our members money when booking.
