Have CAMC over priced some sites

Just stayed mid August on the Chatsworth site costing over £35 per night for two people  on a standard pitch. During the week there were many unused pitches and even at weekends there were several not taken. Very few children and those there seemed to be with grandparents. August has to be the busiest month and previously you had to book Chatsworth well in advance to  have any hope of getting a pitch. A very nice site with superb wardens but it would seemed getting far too expensive. Surely better to charge less and fill a site to maintain profit margins than overprice and have reduced members attending.

I haven’t checked this year Easy but in 2017 the last time we toured in he summer in the UK,  40% seemed the norm.

Perhaps off season prices have increased so much that the summer uplift doesn’t need to be so great

I was comparing mid season to high on a couple of club sites anda couple of commercial sites. 40% sounds more like low to high on commercial sites and probably club sites OP.

We are going to Bridlington 15th to the 22cnd £204 we priced up Sandringham same dates £187 two very similar sites £17 difference, only reason l can think of is that Bridlington just had an upgrade. But besides the point quite happy with the price works out at 14 50 each per night. l have always said that peak times for families is a rip off, children should not have to pay, may start an argument now

Unless I'm missing something, it looks more like double that per night, which considering it is well past the holiday period is a bit steep.

I read it as £204 for 7 nights. Therefore £29 a night, which works out at £14.50 each, if there are two of you.

If the problems that some of the unsupervised children have caused in the showers and toilets here over this last weekend are the norm over the network then the parents or grandparents as well are not being charged enoughundecided

And as Rosa has not been to well we have stayed on site so have noticed the children being allowed,as modern speak "to be children"yell

lts alright for us who are retired we get mid week discounts, can't see where family's get their discounts. If we want to encourage the younger end to take up our hobby we need to give some incentive, l would like to see children below the age of 16 to go free, once they into A levels they are normally not interested with coming with mum and dad anyway. If we lose the younger end then we lose as well. Have you thought how much a family of 5 would have to pay for a couple of weeks say at Bridlington it's frightening. I remember taking my family in the early eighties  it was nowhere near the prices of today even taking in inflation from that time. I would gladly pay another quid on my site fees to combat the loss of the children's fees. Now l will reach for my tin hat

Heethers, you forget that there are already discounts for children. We are also reliably informed that younger people have far bigger incomes than us old timers and site reviews complaining of hordes of noisy children on site bear out the theory that families are willingly paying up and using sites in peak times in vast numbers.

While you may not mind paying an extra quid on your site fees, many complain that they are already too expensive and are starting to drift towards CLs and other cheaper sites. That’s not going to keep the club’s financial head above water in the long term. Think of the bigger picture here.

Which still works out as not cheap. I paid £30 something the other day for a night stop  .... even Mrs Warden agreed it was an expensive stop-over .... and gravel heaven!!!
