New booking system with deposits

I haven't seen any confirmation or otherwise regarding this but have just read it on Faceache with a date of 25th June being, allegedly, given by a member of site staff for implementation.

UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON BOOKINGS

We are normally able to book for next June from today.
However this isn’t possible as the website is moving over to deposits in the next couple of weeks.
So at this time we cannot book anything for next June until the system is live.

It is very disappointing that the Club communication is so poor. The Club policy is that site bookings can be made on a 12 month rolling period but someone has decided to stop this without communication to members

12 months rolling? Anyone remember 'frenzy day'?

Posted on 14/08/2022 12:34

NO I don't because, unlike some members apparently did, I didn't book numerous sites/dates  and not turn up at many of the sites that I booked!  I have been a member since 2013 and have never actually booked more than a week in advance and neither have I failed to turn up at any sites either!

I never joined in either but I remember it well.

I'm not sure "frenzy day" equated to cancelled booking or no shows any more than the rolling booking system does. That seems a big leap in thinking and I’m sure it wasn’t what CY was referring to.

Late booking almost guarantees that you will arrive.

We are also late bookers and I can only remember one occasion when we didn't arrive as promised ( last minute operation)

There seems to be a bit of difference in the information given in FAQ and on existing bookings on the new system, in relation to extending existing bookings.

FAQ states:-

What happens if I need to extend a booking on the new system, which I made before the new system is launched? ie will I be able to extend a 'migrated' booking on the new system?

Existing bookings will be moved onto the new system when the new system goes live. We recommend that you cancel your original booking and make a new booking for the new longer duration, adopting the new booking process and payment conditions. Alternatively, you could create a separate new booking for the additional dates required, however this would mean that you would need to check in on both your arrival days and would have two bookings and payments to manage. Hence, it's simpler for you to fully cancel and rebook.

Where as the extending existing bookings link states:-

Can I add/remove nights on an existing booking?

Members - Yes, you can add or remove nights from an existing booking using the new system. Simply log in to ‘My profile’ as normal and click on ‘My UK site bookings’ to view and amend your booking(s) as necessary. Nights can be added or removed on a booking with no deposit requirement or change to booking terms and conditions.

Assuming the latter is correct it will certainly make it easier amending the part of half term already booked, providing the facility is available from day one. Perhaps they do listen, as there were many moans about this and if the FAQ solution had been applied it would probably have resulted in a lot of separate bookings for extended stays, that would have needed combining on arrival.

I am in this situation with a December booking for Chatsworth. I am concerned about cancelling and then trying to rebook as I am not sure the days will be there when I go back in to rebook? I am surprised there is no option for the site to accept both bookings when you arrive. Assuming that payment is taken automatically on the day of arrival (perhaps this is the sticking point) I suppose I would just have to nip along to reception on the start day of the second booking? Will this need to be done at  or after 1.00pm?

Thanks Steve I made the mistake of assuming that both sets of information were the same. The updated info is better as long as it is visible and clear for all to see.

The cut off dates are important.

I'm of the conclusion that there can be too much information but some would say there can never be enough.

Hope there aren't too many adjustments in the pipeline.

Well, the day has arrived and it seems everything is in an induced coma. Will life support be withdrawn?

No the day hasn't yet arrived CY, it's more like a breakthrough in the tunnel...wink

We'll see progress when our forward bookings have an M in front of them. Nothing as yet.

Edit ... will we see the M sooner or later, that is the proverbial...?
