I know a few members are like us and mix in a few none Club Sites into a tour. Thought I would open up a thread for folks to post website links to any nice sites they come across, that might interest others.

This one to start with http://www.thamesheadinn.co.uk/camping-caravan-sites-cirencester-glos.html

Just off A433 few miles from Cirencester, so ideal for Cotswolds area. Plenty to see and do in area, Pub is nice for food.

Moderator Edit:

This thread is for posting links and/or reviews.  Please don't use it to discuss the merits, or otherwise, of other people's choices.

Thank You.

I witness regularly the selfish way dog owners behave. Exercising their dogs on football pitches, childrens playgrounds, On club sites even when they have dog walks. etc. Multiple dogs on leads in towns getting in everyones way. But most annoying is dogs off lead with livestock. The dog owners stock answer " my dog is OK with sheep"> Lot of nonsense as the increase we see in Sheep being killed.

But not much in the way of livestock at Port Merion .....

I note also , just how many dogs of farmers and hunts get their excrement picked up,  when traversing public areasundecided

Polite interruption, but please don’t risk getting this thread stopped. It’s about posting site details for others who might be interested in them. Thank you.

Some of you may already know of Low Sizergh Barn Shop (especially if you've stayed at the CAMC Kendal site).

They have just opened their new campsite - a C&CC CS.

5 caravan pitches, 10 tent pitches and a camping pod.

https://www.sizerghfarm.co.uk/

Too near for us, but handy for the M6 etc.

P.S. I had better mention that the farm, shop and now campsite are run by a branch of our family!

Thanks Goldie, we walked to the shop and café from the CAMC Kendal site but to be able to stay there will be good. We didn't quite get enough time there to see the castle and visit the pub last time. A much easier walk from there! Very nice shop and café with parking for anyone passing too. smile

Agree not the place to talk dogs, I did mention the Portmeirion site.

It was you that mentioned dog owners, Fish, in the first instance!! Why, when this was about small sites?

I've had a look at the website, as it would be of interest to us.  But I couldn't find any prices anywhere on the website; I do like to know what I'd be paying before booking.  One other thing that would put me off is that arrival time is from 2pm.  By the time you've set up and sorted yourself out, a lot of the afternoon would be gone.

Maybe the website needs to be updated with site fees info?

The site does look very nice.

Go on accommodation and click camping and caravans. click start date and end date and the price for your stay is displayed under the calendar. just checked any date in June and 4 nights is £60, so take it during summer it's £15 per night.

Since posting I had another look and also went to the booking part and found out the price that way.

Perhaps we'll try it out, although still don't like the 2pm arrival time.......

InaD, I wouldn’t worry too much about that. We know many CLs that for some reason or other put a less than suitable arrival time. We usually give them a quick call, and invariably find that arrival times are usually negotiable if the site isn’t busy. For example, we have been allowed on a pitch as early as 9am, and as late as midnight! Fully respect when it’s busy that it might be off by 12 noon, and no arrivals by 12 noon, but when not busy, most places are very accommodating. That’s part of the reason why they are just so much nicer at times than Club Sites. We don’t take things for granted though, like to check.😁
