I know a few members are like us and mix in a few none Club Sites into a tour. Thought I would open up a thread for folks to post website links to any nice sites they come across, that might interest others.

This one to start with http://www.thamesheadinn.co.uk/camping-caravan-sites-cirencester-glos.html

Just off A433 few miles from Cirencester, so ideal for Cotswolds area. Plenty to see and do in area, Pub is nice for food.

Moderator Edit:

This thread is for posting links and/or reviews.  Please don't use it to discuss the merits, or otherwise, of other people's choices.

Thank You.

Yes it is Wherenext. We preferred it to the CAMC Salisbury site which we spent 1 night on last year.

This is a friendly, well run little site set in the heartland of the Norfolk Broads, about a 15 minute walk alongside the river Thurne to Potter Heigham.

The site itself is Adult only and all pitches have their own EHU and Water Tap with drainage into hedges. Some pitches have 3 sided hedges, others are delineated by trees. All pitches are spacious. They are mostly grass although the owners have installed 5 Hardstanding pitches. There are about 30 pitches. Some slope slightly.

There is a very clean, well maintained toilet and shower block with 3 showers and 3 toilets in each. Separate facilities for men and women. There is 1 covered washing up sink and a standard Elsan point. The pitches are mown whenever a guest leaves straightaway. As I said before it is a well run site and you'll always see Kandi around the site. A wealth of local advice.

Whilst the site cannot be directly compared to the Clubs Ludham site as most of the serviced pitched are grass the comparison price wise for the time we stayed was about £11 per night cheaper for 2 adults.

The owners hope to instal a laundry room this winter.

All in all I would return here if staying in the Broads again.

A 30 pitch site about 6 miles north of Uttoxeter and 2 miles east of Alton Towers. Set in countryside. Easy access from road from Denstone to Alton (look for the 2 bus stops right outside the site entrance). There are 10 pitches that are fully serviced on a hardstanding core of stone chippings. If you are interested in one of these then book pitches 1-10. Most of these are long pitches with car in front. Pitch 9 is the one to choose if you have a long outfit. Room by the side on grass for an awning. There are about 7 other H/S pitches which have EHU but nearby water points and about 7 grass pitches with EHU. There is also a field adjacent for tents with EHU.

There is one sanitary block with just the 2 showers each for men and women in separate sections with those horrible push buttons for water, but at least its hot. There are 2 washing up sinks. and a serviceable Elsan. Entry by barrier. There is a M/H drive over grid for waste water.

The site is quite well protected by trees without them impinging.

We've stopped when it is quiet but I believe it can get busy at weekends and school holidays, probably due to its proximity to Alton Towers (which can't be heard from the site). There are FPs for dog walking and Denstone Farm Shop is well worth a visit.

Excellent value for £25 per night. There are also 3 Cottages for hire.

We haven't stopped at this site but did call in as we were passing it. The friendly receptionist lent us a barrier fob so we could have a look around.

It's split across a minor road with touring on one side and seasonal and statics on the other. It's a bit like a French municipal having some pitches in shade, some in open, some grass , some hardstanding and some hedged or not. All slightly different shapes but all pitches are serviced insofar as each has its own water and EHU.

None of this £0.10 more per night type of annoying pricing the club has. Each night is £25 for 2 adults (It's adults only). That's it. Minimum 3 nights for Bank Hols.

If you're  into fishing then it has its own fishing lakes.

Certainly looks worth a try if you are in the area.

Situated on the edge of Kirby Stephen between the Pennines National Park and the Lake District - a small privately owned site with approx 50 pitches for caravans / motorhomes and about 20 camping pitches in a separate area, together with three pods. Generous sized pitches, excellent toilet and shower block. Storage facilities on-site. Free Wifi.

For those that want it, there is an on-site bar which serves basic food ( pizzas etc) and it's open throughout the week. It is tucked away in one corner of the site and not at all intrusive.

Stayed here a couple of times and always found a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere.

We're currently at Elm Cottage Turing, just south of Northwich, Cheshire.  Nice little site.... probably the nicest thing.... the Friday night pizza.  Cooked on the outside oven... you choose what you want on the pizza and they cook it for you.  The funniest thing was the cardboard recycling bin the next day... completely full of pizza boxes.

Not the cheapest of sites, but should you go, I would suggest a serviced pitch.... they are larger.  The ordinary EHU pitches are a bit smaller.  Should you put up an awning, you would be hard pushed to park the car on a standard EHU pitch.  Also the standard EHU are 10amp and the Serviced pitches are 16amp.

The reason for our visit was to get an E & P levelling system fitted on the caravan at A & E Leisure, Northwich.

The pizza was certainly the pizza-de-resistance.... 🤣
