I know there are several wine lovers on here, so I thought it might be a good idea to have a place to discuss and share each others favourite tipple.

A wine I have recently taken to is Barefoot Merlot.  A Californian wine, full bodied wine with a blueberry and plumb flavour.  Really worth a try.  We get it from the Co-op at a little less than £7 a bottle.

Maybe a bit of a long shot and slightly off topic… How many of you visit vineyards when touring/holidaying..?

We visit France a couple of times a year and head down to Bordeaux for the summer. Im a little partial for a nice glass of Red and have often contemplated visiting one of the Chateaux’s...

Don't visit vineyards but do visit their shops or Co-Operatives that sell wine. You can usually get some great bargains and also have a free taste before buying.

Disappointment. Aldi have run out of my favourite wine, a Costiere de Nïmes. However, we bought a Merlot called Ferrandiere, from the South of France, which went down rather well. Will return to store shortly to pick up a few more bottles.

Checking in Aldi to see if they've reintroduced my favourite red but they haven't. Mrs WN picked up a bottle of Portuguese Red called Animus from the Duoro area as she has just come back from a river trip with MIL on the River Duoro. We opened it this weekend and it went down a treat so will have o grab a few bottles before they too disappear. Sorry, no idea how much it costs as forget to check receipt but doubt it will break the bank.

My favourite red used to be Nuit St George, but now I cannot justify the price.

Next in line is Turkey Flat 'Butchers Block' Shiraz Grenache from Majestic wines, goes down a treat with the Sunday roast.

As for white I do enjoy a Riesling, not keen on too dry whites, so I plump for Clos St-Jacques. Or a Vino Verde fro Lidl.

But I still enjoy my Pussers Rum.

I don't know about particular vintages but I think we came back from our  recent trip too early. There were still two unopened bottles stored in the MH garage.

If you like a Rose’ I would recommend Straw Hat or Lidl White Zinfandel, the one with the pink beach hut on the label, just enjoying a little glass, yum.

Apologies for quoting myself but this weekends  newspaper has recommended this and at less than £5 per bottle it is rather good. Get some before stocks disappear.

There are two wines obtained through Laithwaites. ‘The Black Stump ‘ (Australia) and ‘The waxed Bat’ ( Argentina) Both deep red, full bodied plummy wines. Both gorgeous with a slight preference for Waxed Bat.
