It's good to hear that members of CT are receiving their vaccinations, good luck to all those yet to have theirs. It seems like a long haul till we get everyone sorted and hear the results of the present vaccines.

I'm leaving this open for non political comments as per the guidelines. Hope you can add your own experiences and thoughts.

My first jab comes up tomorrow, I'm so glad we have research institutions that have got us this far! And I am planning breaks away in the hope of improvements on the horizon.

Oh dear KJ, I think I'd persevere with the GP, someome must be there tomorrow morning? Our GP has a huge long recorded message system just now, we have to be really patient to get through and finally press the right number!

And well done you, though I didn't know you had, I must have missed the seven times you've mentioned it beforesmile.

So the RAF and RN are wrong in asking for and paying volunteers? No matter, it's OT.

Back on topic. Either way, one will need paid or unpaid volunteers if one wants those extra classes/schools.

Well that's handy it never occurred to me to keep count, thanks for the info.  What other records do you keep about me and others?

If you check with HMRC I think you will find that "paid" voluntary work is classed as employment and the money could be taxable.

Really fed up, still no vaccine appointment.

Rang the helpline, gave them my CHI number, they do not have me on the system so cannot arrange an appointment for me. They told me to ring my GP.

Rang my GP, held on through all the recorded "go elsewhere" messages, held on for the receptionist, then got cut off, so gave up.

Now going to e mail John Beattie on BBC Scotland Drivetime, those in Scotland will know who I mean.  Maybe he can get some information.

As it happens, he lives straight across the  street from DD and I have had a few chats with him in the last 2 years.

Kj - how far from your surgery do you live? I think I'd be tempted to go directly there and speak to someone, especially as I think you've said you're expecting to have to go there for the jab itself?

so paid voluntary work exists then? Of course it could be taxable.

Again as I said before I suppose you volunteer to be employed? But you're still volunteering? You have to volunteer to be aircrew? Some teachers will have to volunteer to take those summer schools, they can't be forced?

As I said this is OT but you can have the next last word if you will as you're so keen on a definition smile

Agree, at ours there is a mobile number posted outside to be let in. The doors may be locked but there must be someway to get the staff to let you in?

Only a 5 minute drive, but if you just turn up they will not let you in to speak to anybody.  Strict instructions to ring first and preferably arrange a phone or video  consultation.

If no word by lunchtime tomorrow, I will ring them again.

Yes, apparently we 75-80s in this area have to go to our GP.

Did anyone else see the news clip of Hugh Bonneville doing volunteer car park duties.  Every body seemed most pleased to see him and some even had socially  distanced  selfieswink

I had to Google him.....recognised the face but not the name.....hopeless with putting names to faces, especially these days.

Could you not find a convenient patch of ice in the car park to "slip" on, requiring treatment and then casually mention the vaccination thing while being treated? wink
