Electric and hybrid car charging on club sites

I was informed this year by a site Marshall at the Centenary club site that if I wished to charge up my Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV on a club site it would cost £9 per day.

since I only get 26 miles from a full charge I thought this was excessive .

I wrote to the club pointing out that we pay for up to 16A electricity in the pitch fee and as long as we don’t exceed this there should be no further charge. At most my charger uses 10A and only charges for 4 hours.

What does anyone else think about this?

Unfortunately it is £9.00 to charge up your Outlander PHEV, we use an APP Octopus juice and charge up for much less off site.

Good news Black Knowl CMC site in Brockenhurst does have a dedicated charging point, the bad news it has never worked for the past few years plus it will not be fixed this year.

However, there is nothing stopping you charge up twice in a single day.

Nobody is being subsidised by ev owners who have already paid for inclusive electricity and can only use the same amount as other site users whilst reducing the supply to their own vans. They could be alongside someone who is running a huge van with aircon and a large fridge freezer 24/7. I would guess the £9 helps subsidise those who heat the planet....wink

As it stands a disproportionate usage of energy by some site users is subsidised by everyone and certainly not by ev owners.

The way the price of electricity is going it can only be a (short) matter of time until individual pitches are metered. Otherwise the "included" price of electricity will double the current pitch fees.....

At least then the bickering over who uses what will end........tongue-out

The point being that we pay for up to 16A with our pitch fee.

How we use it should be up to us.

To charge our EV

To run our air-conditioning

To leave a heater on in our awning for the dog

To charge our mobility scooter or electric bike.

Why single out the electric car owner.

This is surely  discrimination.

The best way forward is to meter the electricity supply and so you pay for what you use.

Today this rolled up next to me.

Air-conditioning running all day and night

2 huge dogs

Was this punishment for having an EV and complaining about the £9 a day charging fee
