There will be other factors affecting the file size, of course. The bit depth and the aspect ratio (i.e. the number of pixels in the smaller aspect) for starters.

Posted on 12/07/2022 08:44 by NutsyHI find it impossible to upload a photo to my profile. I have reduced the size in pixels several times, and just tried again using above instructions. Picture appears inmy profile, and says "photo uploaded succesfully". Save and exit. Photo disappears. Been like this for 2 years now.
The pic is uploaded with this message, but wil not save in my profile.

I've been trying to upload a photo today along with a couple of others. I managed to get the other 2 loaded after their initial rejection for being too big even though they were both saved to about 470kbs. I had to further reduce them.
The one I can't get loaded is below 460kbs!!

Just for info. Seeing this post prompted me to look again at resizing which I haven’t done for some time - my laptop seems to ‘change/update’ some things without my intervention. This is what I found after opening a photo taken with my old pocket size camera and put on laptop via sd card. Resized to thumbnails.
