Music - What Floats Your Boat?

Kinda surprised there doesn’t appear to be a thread on this.

I’ve always been a big music fan, a major part in my life. With all that’s going on, maybe folks out there have the same passion and would like to share it? If this thread takes off, we will get a ‘feel’ of what others like, and can make suggestions? As for my tastes, I guess they could be described generally as rock music, blues, folk and some classical. I was thinking that if we could limit it to the more obscure/less well-known tunes? No Beatles, ABBA, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers etc, we’ve all heard them already.

I’ll kick it off with this from Supertramp...

That’s rather good, Nellie πŸ‘ I happened upon the same tune, by Dave Gilmour. I don’t know what it is with DG, but somehow he only has to lay his hands on a guitar, and magic happens, for me. I’d post a link, but YT seems to be acting up, but do search it out.

An artist I happened upon quite by accident. He actually has a great body of work, Steven Wilson. He’s produced a lot of good work, but none, imo, better than this. Some wonderful melodies and delicious guitar playing...

As already stated, I’m not keen on Jazz, however...

I watched a movie a good few years ago, ‘Corrina, Corrina’ with Ray Liotta and Whoopi Goldberg. One song that was featured was this, ‘You Go To My Head’, by Louis Armstrong and Oscar Peterson. So ‘cool’/laid back...

Will certainly look it out, it will be a change from the album that I'm listing to at the moment...Bluesology  by MJQ which contains my most favourite instrumental track.

We went to see the MJQ (Modern Jazz Quartet for those that don't know them) at the Nottingham Albert Hall in the late 1960s. We still have two vinyl LPs that I have now digitised, 'Fontesa' released in 1956 and 'MJQ plays Gershwin's Porgy and Bess' released in 1965. We still listen to them from time to time. Their music doesn't date as far as we are concerned. Nice background evening sound.
