The future

I have been a member for 3 years now, I don't think i can continue my membership for the years ahead. As a young family i find this club not exactly "family friendly". More to the point, I have been looking at the make up of the people at the head of the table, the council members and commitee.

We live in a diverse country and our nation is much better for that amazing diversity. Unfortunately the club seems to be a relic of the 70s, diversity seems to be something we as a club are unaware of. I'm sure they are all doing a great job but how can we go ahead without our club reflecting the make up of the country and the people they represent. Dont get me started on age groups being represented. I have no idea what ages everyone is, but i don't see young families represented and once again, they can't be ignored. Unless ofcourse the club is for elderly white people only. Again, this is no criticism of those people.

The easy answer is anyone can apply or put themselves forward. But the aptmosphere has to be right, it has to be friendly to people from other groups to be able to apply. Is it? What is the cub doing to encourage more diversity? Younger representation? It has to be more than just a token "anyone can apply". And this direction has to be from the leader, Mr Lomas.

On the basis of the above, I can't continue to be a member when it comes time to renew.

I notice on a C&CC site you'll get a smile and "good morning" from people you meet whilst usually on a CAMC site folk try to avoid eye contact or maybe you'll just get a grunt. Of course there are exceptions but, in the main, people are much more casual on C&CC sites and far less stand offish. That's my opinion gained over nearly 50 years of membership of C&CC.

Thats just how I and OH tend to find most people on my 52 years of cc membership usually quite congenial,in their attitude

Two years ago we gave the ccc a try and apart from the "age concession" did not notice any diference with the members , some of the Management at the Sandringham site did need a bit of training in public relations,

We have not bothered to renew ,as their sites did not seem so well organised as the cc ,but then maybe thats why they keep pushing"the friendly club" as staff seem to turn a blind eye to so much

Due to camping styles the C&CC provides an easier going atmosphere, people are more likely to be outside and there is interaction. You have to wait for very warm weather on CAMC sites to see who's around! wink

The difference between the two clubs has been noticeable during the pandemic. When the sites were open the C&CC reduced the number of pitches available which left room for children to play and easier access to facilities. CAMC pursued a different policy, packed sites and band systems for busy facilities.

I think the future for the club remains to be seen regarding their attractiveness for families.

The cc also reduced pitch capacity ,and if it was more noticable on ccc it probably meant they were "a bit to close",to start with,  not for children to playundecided

Every CAMC we visited was full during open spells this year and no pitches out of use.

Due to the website delays I can't roll up my comments on one post but my responses reflect what I've experienced first hand, especially this year.

+1👍🏻, it was a driving factor for me to sell the LV i’d bought new 3years earlier to go back to camping. I never new of the C&CC then. I’m happy with full commercial due to the fact prior to covid the atmosphere on commercial sites was a revelation in comparison. It was the reverse of C&MC sites. The sooner the bulk of the boomer generation have moved on the better for the C&MC & the atmosphere on sites. This is based on my personal view of what I found.
