Now that I've organised dinner, I'm back to an ongoing task.

My late father-in-law kept a diary in 1940 (when we was 20) and I have transcribed it and Tweet an entry every day.

We only have the one year, but his brother's diaries from 1935 have survived, and his family have lent me them, so I can do something similar. I'm now on February 1938 and as well as notes about the weather and farm work, there are these two entries.

Tuesday 22nd February

Cat went with chick.

Wednesday 23rd February

Cat gone with 2 chicks.

Shot cat.

frown Poor old Dick....hope he wasn't a farm hand. wink

I like the old diaries, especially the country ones. We've got Parson Woodforde round here from Castle Cary, a long life with all sorts of goings on.

Lovely and sunny here so far today, ground white with frost though first thing.

Bags all packed and ready for the off to Glasgow ready for our flight out in the morning, bit of lunch first then another quick tidy round.

Sunshine here we come (hopefully) cool

Play nice everyone while we are away and above all stay safe.

We have had it all here today...sunshine...wind....rain....sunshine, and now snow😡 it’s not conducive to happy gardening. Getting seriously annoyed with this wet weather now🤬

Been there and had the same problem.  It is one of the few design faults from Volvo and common across most of its range.  The reason is they chose to fit rear disks that are a bit too small for the work they have to do; they then wear at a rather excessive rate.  Not a lot you can do about it and it's nothing to do with your driving.  Beware of the garage also wanting to change the disks.  In most cases for the first change it is not necessary but they may try it on.

Forward planning & awareness driving ,as an I.A.M/MOT-ADI?hgv1 too,i drive VERY steady .Very surprised at the latest problem !! Last problem was the two front tyres needing changing at 28k !! surprised

We too had problems with wear of brakes and discs our various Volvos, and on our XC 90 the original tyres only lasted for 18000 miles.

We had 2 new sets in total, and both of those lasted over 30000 miles.
