Posted on 09/02/2022 21:51 by ABMI like to see the Winter Olympics as well,, brue -- the only part that rattles MY cage is the presence of the R.O.C. squad -- I thought that they had got them out of their system at the regular Games !

Love the Winter ‘lympics! Spectacular viewing and yes, tune in from 5am ish each day.
Have to agree with Brian - the inclusion of the Russians (in whatever disguise) is nothing but yet another blot on sport. A 15yr old testing positive? C’mon, time for lifetime bans.
Hoping we get a medal in something 🤞

I’ve been watching some of it especially the curling, but best not mentioned this year. I agree it’s a spectacle but at he same time it seems strange to use a venue with no natural snow. The backdrop to much of the coverage is barren rock (and the occasional steel works), hardly a winter wonderland! I could go on e.g. World Cup in that well know football nation Quatar - big sport has gone bonkers! Maybe the Russians are invading Ukraine to deflect attention from their Olympic squad?

Are we surprised? The country is run by crooks and gangsters. The man in the street is as vulnerable and lacking in influence now as he was under communism. A favoured few asset-stripped the juiciest pickings. If you say the word 'oligarch', what nationality immediately springs to mind?

Probably Chelsea !!
Hoping for a demonstration of the Wisdom Of Solomon sometime tomorrow but I'm not sure what will happen after C A S send down their decision, but which ever way the decision goes I can only feel so very sorry for the Child concerned and utter disgust for her " Caring Adults "
But also let us not forget that certain British Sports People are none too pure in such matters

True Brian, however I’m unaware of any British 15yr old who’s tested positive for a banned substance and those cheats who have, are generally far far fewer in number than the Russians
Totally agree with sentiments directed at the child. What now for her and her future? Even if she wins after being cleared to compete (or come 2nd or 3rd) the IOC have declared there’ll be no podium

I agree, JonRay, that the Brits who have been mentioned in Despicable Despatches as far as I know have all been of Adult Years and are becoming fewer and fewre as the Testers get their act together.
As far as the Young Russian girl is involved I think we will have heard the last of her after she returns home. Sad for she is truly talented but politico's don't give a tuppenny cuss for those they have so cruelly mis-treated . Think of the tiny, under developed gymnasts of a few years ago -- they had to sneak off over the borders and head to the States ( where else !! )
