Best reads - Club Together Book Club?

I'm just about coming to the end of Deborah Moggach’s book, Heartbreak Hotel. I found it a very enjoyable read and very amusing. But what should I read next? Any recommendations?

I also wondered if anyone would be interested in a Club Together book club? According to a member survey earlier last year, reading is the most recurring leisure activity whilst caravanning. I know I’m a book worm and I’m sure there’s a few of us out there who enjoy a good read. Anyone interested or any suggestions?

I rarely listen to book at bedtime and to be honest had forgotten it started this week, I'll catch up on iPlayer. Similarly I have been listening to Fergal Keen reading, lovely voice 😉,  his family life Wounded at 9.45am well worth a listen. Often you can catch omnibus versions on 4extra but at the weekend.

They had a spell of book at bedtime that I didn't consider conducive to a decent sleep and I stopped then and not got back in the habit.

I agree with you there, some of the books have been the stuff of nightmares not peaceful sleep. So the night I decided to listen Adrian Mole is just finishing! wink I've still got the old paperback book so I've lined it up for a re-read if I don't catch up on iplayer.

Whoops apologises 😶. Fergal Keen's reading Wounds not as I stated Wounded! I missed this mornings and went on iPlayer and find that there are 5 episodes available and are download-able. I like the new auto play which allows you to continue to listen without having to select the next episode - a good improvement in my opinion. Sorry this isn't reading books ourselves 😲

Ouch,  just  printed  off  a  list  of  some  mentioned  authors  &  their  output  surprised  --  It  seems  I've  got  about  five  years  non-stop  reading  should  I  down-load  that  lot  onto  my  kindle  !!  Think  I'll  keep  away  from  my  Bank  Manager  for  a  while  or  I won't  get  a  Christmas  card  from  her  frown !!

But  thank  you  all  anyway  kiss,

I've virtually given up on my kindle, I buy cheap secondhand books from ebay or charity shops, much cheaper for the books I want to read. laughing

I  dare not do  that,  Brue,  my  licence**  only  permits  me to  drive  up  to  &  NOT  EXCEEDING 3,500  !!  Imagine,  if  you  dare,  what  I'd  have  to  leave  out  of  the  motor  when  out  enjoying  myself  surprised.

Pairs  of  Size  11  boots  x4,  etc  etc  etc  embarassed

**  Don't  think  I've  given  the  "  Safety  Alarm  Active"  warning  on  here  yet   !!

3 - yearly  Medical  / old  Man  licence  due  to  expire  in  December  and  DVLA  Swansea  sent  me  the  notification  &  Application  paperwork  in  early  September.  Decided  to  cheat  &  did  it  on  line  so  got  a  nice  letter  saying  application  rec'd  ok,  up date  in  10  working  days.  Got  back  a  day  or  so  early  from  muddy  Bedfordshire  to  find  the  licence  had  arrived  after 9  days  in  total.  4 days  later  a  letter  came  telling  me  the  application  had  been  approved  &  the  licence  would  follow  in  due  course.  !!

Good  to  see  the  Civil  Service  replacements  are  keeping  up  the  Highest  of  high  standards.   wink

Ah, I can see your point! wink

I made a mistake with my old friend Adrian Mole, it's on all week, book at bedtime, radio 4.
