What’s coming up, into bloom, not behaving, visiting, living in, passing through? Post a photo or two, and share your garden year with others 😁

Hellebores, lovely bright crocus, and snowdrops.

Just over a month on now from my last post, had some very cold and wet weather, but at last things have warmed up, and precious plants are starting to put on a show. I love some of the old fashioned cottage garden things like Lupins and big blowsy opium poppies, a nice pale double Montana Clematis, and got a good show of Honey Alliums this year. Very “lush” at the moment😁

We decided that summers are for going away, and so thought a wild flower meadow in the front was the way to go. Covid has scuppered this but the idea was there. This is the second year and coverage is looking good. Cornflowers will follow this big daisies that are standing nearly 3 feet high. We did one cut last year in November. It took 12 hours to strim and mow down to height.

Looking nice. Wildflower areas are not easy to get right, so well done to you😁

Colin, (second attempt at getting this post to work!) we are letting a strip of our lawn do it's own thing. I have added just two wild mallow plants and one Ladies Smock from our own plants. It is meadow grass so already has speedwell and bedstraw in it. We have ox eye daisies elsewhere so I won't deliberately introduce them, hoping it will be completely natural.

Yesterday was Derby Day the traditional day to cut box hedges, I haven't done ours yet, we just have a couple of large round bushes!

One if our echiums has survived from last year, the bees love it and we finally have some seedlings to grown on.

Nice Red Hot Pokers👍 I have tried three times now to grow them, even bought a very lovely bright lime green variety.....nope, it died.

I planted a tea bag yesterday. Not an ordinary one, but some special licorice, fennel and aniseed ones from M&S. Dried it, shook out the seeds, now wondering what might come up🤔 My bet is on fennel, nice tasting tea as well, I like it left to go cold and then chilled in fridge. Very refreshing🍹

Seems most of the garden snaps shown are way above mine. Here in the North its been very cold ( especially ) in the mornings, warmer now so possibly the plants may shoot up.

My perennial patch is coming along nicely at the moment.

Noticed the red hot pokers (unless they are a similar plant) as ours only grow later in the year, you have a nice mixture of plants there.

Hosta, I think there are a big variations in plants this year. When we stayed in Worcs not long ago the gardens were ahead of ours in the SW! Quite strange.
